I too am interested, PrincessB. I suffered a lot of the "side effects" of Lovenox injections early in my pregnancy since they didn't really know exactly what my blood problem was other than the fact that I did have a clot before in life. They misdiagnosed me as having lupus and put me on 30mg twice a day of Lovenox, then changed that dose later to 90mg once a day. They HAD even wanted me to go up to 120 but I refused because I was already sleeping almost every day from fatigue and getting tremendous headaches that kept me down. After much more tested they then said I didn't have the Lupus and that whatever factor in my blood caused my clot was marginal at best and showed up during some tests but not others and that a ptofolactic dose of 40mg once a day was sufficient. Now I worry if anything wrong will happen with the baby.
Also, an update for me. I weigh in now at 180 pounds and am 5 foot 2." It has gotten incredibly painful for me to walk around or stand in one place...so much so it's difficult for me to take my dog out and wait 3 minutes for her to pee without me needing to sit down. My doctor is surprised at all the weight gain but I assured her I really wasn't eatting more food anymore since the 2nd trimester ended and that I've even skipped a few meals because I wasn't hungry, since I have increased my fluid intake overall. So, she spoke with the high risk OB in charge and they will allow for me to be induced at 38 weeks on June 16th, rather than wait another week. This was also after trying to perform a cervical check. I say trying because checking my cervix is incredibly painful for me to the point of bringing tears and my doctor didn't want to push it. She told me that the baby had already dropped and was incredibly low, but that she couldn't tell any dialation since my cervix is turned backwards (tipped uterus?). She tells me labor will not be fun for me. I did switch to Heparin today and with luck after the baby is born I will not have t use needles too much longer after the birth because I want to go onto coumadin. I won't be breastfeeding.
I go in for my last ultrasound on the 9th where I hope they can determine the baby's position because I strongly feel it's a "sunny-side-up" baby due to the pressure on my rectum/tailbone. But we'll see.
PrincessB...one other question. One thing I have experienced from my baby which I haven't talked to anyone about yet and which only now seems to scare me is that the baby sometimes (maybe once a day) makes a convulsive motion for only a second or two. It's as if the fist or foot jerks several times in rapid sucession, like if kicking a soccer ball 5 or 6 times in a moment. Have you had any of this? My husband, when he first falls asleep, makes some of these kinds of movements without being aware of it so I figured it was just something the baby is inheriting from him...but now after what you said and looking up what cerebral paulsy is...I am freaking out, especially after being on originally higher doses of Lovenox. And Veroki is right...damned if you do or don't take them because the docs all say if you don't take Lovenox you and your baby can die, so we place our trust in them, even with info. we garner ourseves but are backed into corners for fear of what will happen to us and our babies.
Princess B i am exactly what you are talking about with ob/re dr and lovenox. I have NO Found or Known bllod disorders however i had 5 m/c's and with my last child they put me on lovenox. They said it is now being used in the RE world as a preventative when mulitple m/c's with no reason. I was not happy and did not like the idea. However i went alond with it. I was suppose to take it for the entire pregnancy, however i did not like how i felt on it and i stoped at 11 weeks. The dr was not happy and tried to tell me if i lost the baby it was my fault. However i did alot of research and everything i was experince was a reactition to the lovenox however my dr and the er drs all told me it wasnt. I stopped the drug ad i have a healthy baby girl born 2/8/08. I made the decision that i woul take the risk and not take the drug and i knew that i could loose the baby but i took that risk. I took the drug for 11 weeks and never had any blood work done to check the drug in my system. When i asked about testing i got the run around that was another thing that made me stop it.
so now im going to be 35 weeks, had an appoointment yesterday i will be switching to heaprin next week and thatll be 2 injections a day so that blows.
im so done being pregnant, i will soon be starting all those "home remedies" for naturally induecing labor. so that means more sex, nipple stimulation and possible accupuncture , i want her out by 37 weeks but that may be wishful thinking, sigh......
26 yrs old : 11/30/06 1st pregnancy ended in fetal demise in utero @ 15 weeks(boy). heterozygous PAI-1 5G/4G Allele. 7/7/08~ baby girl with help from lovenox
just to let you know that i did all the home remedies my first pregnacy and all it did was give me contractions however contractions without dialation only results in observation at the hospital not delivery
male sperm contains proglandins (sp?)and thats supposed to soften the cervix, or so they say, i guess the baby will come when its ready or at 39 weeks, sigh, im so jealous you get to be induced @ 38 weeks watergazer! i asked and my doc said no cause some babies, although condsidered full term, who are forced out by induction may still have trouble with their lungs and breathing on their own. i just hope shes ready sooner than later!

'I just wanted to say that as much as you might like your babies to come earlier, they really do come when they are ready. It is best not to try and force them to come before that. I was on lovenox for my entire pregnancy without any problems. At week 35 I developed high blood pressure and was finally induced at 37 weeks. My daughter ended up spending the first 6 days of her little life in the NICU on oxygen support. Just because 37 weeks is full term does not mean the baby is ready to come. Believe me, I understand the desire to have the baby born and know that everything is fine. I also understand being tired of being pregnant and the various aches and pains that comes with later pregnancy. Just remember that you have done a lot to see this baby makes it into this world healthy, so be patient, babies all eventually come.
Sorry that I haven't posted in awhile. But I have been having problems with the site.
I am glad to hear everyone is doing well. I am sorry to hear about what happened, Chi. Your day will come. I have a co-worker who had given up on the idea of having kids and at 46 had her first baby. And everything was fine. I do not know all the details to her pg. But there is hope.
I am also sorry to hear about you, Princess B. I am also curious about what dosage you were on. And if you are going to sue. It might take a while to get the suit over with, but it will be worth it in the end. How is your baby girl now? How old is she?
Now an update on me. I am thinking that I might be ready to start trying for another baby. My doctor doesn't think that I will need lovenox while I am pg. That gives me a sigh of relief and also some worry. I guess you really are damned if you do and damned if you don't. I know that I will be worried the entire pg regardless of being on lovenox or not. I am glad that my doctor has agreed to do ultra sounds every other week. Which brings up a question.....is that ok for the baby to do so many u/s??
Well....I will keep you posted on me. I am glad that I can start thinking back to Jonathon and not feeling like crying. The sorrow is still there and it will always be there. But now I feel blessed that I got to hold him and spend his last few mins with him. I am hoping that it doesn't take another 6 yrs to get pregnant.
Thanks for listening. Healthy baby dust to all. : )
First Son (Shawn) born @29 wks via C-Section Second Son (Jonathon) born @20 wks via VBAC Thrid pregnancy--in progress On 40 mg Lovenox/Baby Asprin/Folic Acid
i had my first daugther at 39 weeks and she was 6lns 9oz and perfectly fine I had my last one at 37 weeks, due to persuasion to get my ob to take her early. Se was 7lbs 15oz and perfectly healthy however iwas warned when she agreed todeliver early htat she may go to the nicu for lung support, but she was okay
i just went to the doctor yesterday for a 20 week eval. everything looked great except he was curled up in a ball . well i am having another boy and very excited but scared at the same time.
PrincessB: Still wanting to know your dosage and full story.
Veroki: Has your baby dropped yet or is low in the uterus? If so, then perhaps they's be more willing to induce. The medication alone was the major reason my doctors did allow for an induction in my case, but I will say I pushed for it as well, and my personality being what it is well...I think they knew I was on a short fuse as it was and wasn't going to deal with not having any options much longer.
I did start the Heparin injections and I have to say they don't burn at all...way better than the blasted Lovenox. All I feel with the Heparin is some pressure when I inject. Also, thanks for the tips on injecting. The first couple times I had issues with bubbles but it's all good now and I get the stuff out of the vial good enough for a full dose. I'll keep you all posted. I keep getting larger over here and the baby is very low for me and hurting my pelvis...yet another reason they opted to induce early since they figure it's gonna come earlier than expected anyway.
Update: We are doing good I started back work last week but i get to take the baby with me, which is great. I dont get much work done though. The colic is slowly getting better but i dont know if it is her age or all the stuff that we have tried.
Veroki and watergazer: I know yall are both tired and ready for those baby to get here, but it will all come soon enough. I am glad they finally agreed to induce you watergazer, and veroki they still do the same for you as well. but Good Luck to you both
I have gone and read every single post from the beginning to now and maybe its because im tired and its late and i spaced it in my momnesia pregnant brain.
I have a bruise from my very first injection last thursday still hanging around same color as the day it was given. I am noticing the burning the nurses told me it was normal. So i figured that my other things were normal.
I get major cramps after my injection that last about 40mins. i also get very nauseaous (sp?) afterwards for about 90mins. This is my 4th pregnancy and 1st time on it. With my 2nd & 3rd pregnancy the doctors ignored the fact that I had a DVT with my 1st pregnancy. Well i had major pain and leg swelling last thursday and was admitted but no clots in my leg. I left on Lovenox thinking they wouldnt put me on something that is harmful for me.
I was told this medicine would help with my leg swelling at home so that it would stay down. Its not staying down. It is the same size it was BEFORE i went to the hospital. A friend of mine told me that is a sign of serious problems and i need to see the doctor now. I see them on friday but im afraid to wait that long.
Thanks to everyone on here for making me a more informed patient.
there will be days where this site wont pull up for me??? crazy....
i have my weekly appointment tomorrow with a nst, i hope she checks my cervix cause i had some period like cramping and a weird sharp shooting pain vaginally today and i hoping that means some dialation and softing of the cervix is going on, but who knows.
im sick again, i have a really bad cough with congestion and it feels like im going to cough the babt out! i feel awful and im trying my hardest not cough for fear that itll harm the baby. ugh.....
