For some reason for like 2 weeks I lost my memory... I would take my Lovenox shot two days and then forget the next day. It wasn't just one or 2 doses.
That did show me though that the Lovenox does work and my baby suffered the effect of me forgetting. Now I made a little check list I check before I go to sleep and make sure I have taken all my medication.
Don't freak out because of one dose...

I was very sick s well but the zofran really worked for me.
Veroki~ I accidentally forgot to take a shot once or twice, as long as it doesnt happen very often you should be fine, just try to remember. I know it will worry you to death but you should be fine. I worried about it too.

I don't know how many I missed, quite a few. I don't think just a couple missed doses is not dangerous. Just take it as soon as you realize you missed one. If it is too close to the next dose, just skip the missed one and take the next dose. You do want to take the shot about the same time every day. I take mine on my way to bed, I go to bed around 9:30 to 10:30... that way it is a constant even flow of medication.
Later, Brandi

Back again. I'm now 33 weeks along and getting bigger. I've reached 170 pounds up from my 128 pound start. Too bad I'm not getting taller too because it's getting harder to breathe. Being 5 foot 2" sucks.
Anyway they did an ultrasound and the baby weighs about 4.5 pounds, so it's still within normal weight range, not overly huge...so only I'm the one ballooning out apparently. I have now surpassed every other woman in my family in terms of baby weight gain...and I've always been the one that never had weight issues and could eat like 5 Hershey bars a week and not gain a pound! Hardly anyone can believe me when they see me. I've already chosen my post-natal workout regimen: they are coming out with the Wii Fitness game come May and I hear it's going to be quite good and cover aerobics, yoga, etc. to help you stay fit. Since I hate to exercise this will be perfect for me. I just hope I can loose this ginormous ba-donk-a-donk butt.
As for Heparin...what is the recall all about? My doctors still plan to switch me over to it in a couple weeks (at 35 weeks) so maybe they don't know about the recall? I was told that because of the heparin there is an increased risk of placental bleeding they will have to monitor, but if the drug isn't even in the US, how could I get it?
As for the epidural...I better be able to have one. That's all I have to say. I have suffered more than enough pain already in this life to have to cope with any more. Besides, what can they do C-Section wise then if you still got Lovenox in your system? Those drugs to reverse it's effect sound bad.
Also, I've been looking into Mirena as a BC option but I'm still all for the sterilization because IUDs are not without their own heinous issues like moving around and ripping you from the inside. I personally know a few women who had issues, including surgery and tubal pregnancy and hysterectomy because of them. I also have serious period pain and an IUD only increases that I hear.

Watergazer~ I would ask your doctors about the heprin. I had a c-section and they did a spinal tap, not painful at all. I was on lovenox up until the day before my surgery. But they can put you sleep as well, they can give you a med to reverse the lovenox.

Hafletcher: I just called my docs and am waiting on a call back, but according to my on-line research a full-scale recall of Heparin is either in progress right now or as been since the latter part of February this year. I called my pharmacy on it and they said they didn't get any notice of a Heparin product recall and know nothing about it. Also, I found out that the recall is voluntary by the company and there's a lot of side effects to it...among these including death. It sounds to me like you were taken off Lovenox the day before a schedule C-Section/Induction...is that true? In most cases I read on here the doctors are not against doing this but my doctors don't seem to want to solidify an induction or a pre-delivery date. They wanted to switch me to Heparin and either plan an induction around 39 weeks or see if I went into labor before that. I would prefer they just schedule me to be off the Lovenox a day before inducing sometime around 38 weeks just to be sure...a lot of women in my family had their babies around the 38 week mark and an amneo could determine safety for induction anyway so why the docs are being so stubborn and not giving me any choices is frustrating and at this point I may just refuse altogether to go onto Heparin after what I read...but I'm afraid to go into labor while on Lovenox and if they don't want to schedule an induction I'm screwed and could face worse complications. I am so frustrated and pissed off. Sometimes I just think to myself I can't believe I made this decision. I never had any concept of how hard it was to go through the whole pregnancy and birth process. 'Course nobody in the family had any issues so I just thought pregnancy was pregnancy and that's that...no major hastles with doctors, insurance, drugs...boy have I learned a lot in a short time and I don't trust anybody for anything and have to sit here doing all the research myself and trying to plan things my own way around a system not dedicated to giving me a full selection of options.
However...I find that if you pull no punches with people and sometimes get forced into being a bitch, you get much more results. Unfortunately it's sad but true.

Update: I spoke with my doctor and she said the recall was for the Heparin, yes, but that all of the bad stock has been taken out of circulation and they had stopped making Heparin, causing a shortage. However, they are slowly making new stock and they put in an order for my drugs a month in advance in order to have the Heparin in time for my use at 36 weeks...they will have to switch me a week later than they wanted because they said since there is a shortage now all orders have to placed at least a full month in advance.
I don't know if I trust the drug but my doctors are not for inducing until around the 39 week point and even then they don't really want to and are only menting it in passing. My doctor also went on to say that the baby weighed in at around 5 pounds, not 4.5 pounds, but still in ok range. Unless it reaches an estimated 10 pounds they won't schedule an early induction there either. We'll see. Nobody in my family on my father or mother's side ever gave birth to a baby over 7 pounds vaginally. On my husband's side though they usually give birth to 9 or 10 pounders vaginally without an issue, but my genes are with his family, lol!

Watergazer~ well that is good news about the heprin i guess since they will not even consider induction. It sounds like you will have a big baby too. They say they gain about a half a pound a week at this point. so may be you will get a scheduled induction or c-section. I know you have to be getting tired and are to the point where you are just ready to have him. I hope all continues to go well.

watergazer~ im right behind you at 32 weeks and 47 lbs gained! i have an u/s on monday so ill let you guys know how much she weighs. im sure only 4lbs since she was 3 lbs last month.well it looks like your docs have it all figured out already. my doc said she'd only keep on on lovenox till the end if no heprin becomes avail in time to switch. either way i dont care as long as my baby comes out ok.oh and the mirena has progetrone in it so is supposed to lighten or take away your periods altogether and also your supposed to have less cramps. i think your thinking of the hormone free copper iud, those are supposed to make your period heavier and more painful. im pretty sure im going with the mirena, i cant even think about having another baby in the next 2 years at least! were already stressed out on how were going to provide for the one!
i was really down this morning stressing about finances and my dh.he applied for a part-time job and were waiting to hear back if he got it or not, we need the extra money so i can take a full 12 weeks maternity leave, mind you i dont want him permanently working 2 jobs just for the next 7 weeks till i deliver and then he can quit. he said he felt like all the pressure was going to be on him and that he doesnt see that pressure letting up for a long time. now lets put aside the fact that since the beginning when we began dating and talking about our future i always made it clear i wanted to be a stay at home mom, however im not irrational our situation still warrants that i work at least part-time, which i will be doing. but even with that income it will be tight, and we will have to live on a very strict budget. he knows that it makes absoultley no sense what-so-ever for me to work full-time b/c my whole check would go to daycare and we would be in an even worse postion, so why lay it on me that he feels like that? and its not that i dont want to hear if hes stressed but he makes an off comment about it and then i sit there trying to talk to him about and get him to tell me why he feels that way and what we can do to make it better and he wont talk about it???!!! i mean keep it to your god damn self if you dont want to talk about it. so then i feel all bad about it when i shouldnt have to b/c weve talked it through plenty of times and have always come to the same conclusion.i got upset, he apologized, hes really a good guy and husband and i understand where hes coming from but it really upset me. well thanks for letting me vent...............i just noticed my feet and ankles are really swollen........

I first started taking BC depr-vera which was progestrone-only...and my reaction to that was straight-up non-stop bleeding for months on end. My doc said some women stop having periods while others have it non-stop...lucky me, huh? So I don't think Mirena is for me. Then again, the Depro was a one shot per 3 month deal. I am looking into the new essure though...not sure how safe that is but it's non-hormonal and likely 100% permanent without the need of surgery...safer than a male vesectomy.
And half a pound a week it'll gain? Good lord I don't know how much more I can take...

On Monday I went to the doc. for my 6 week checkup and I had mirena put in. It was uncomfortable for about 5 seconds. and I had no more pain. I bled on monday a little bit and have had nothing else since. My doc. told me to wait a week for it to be effective, and gave me an antibiotic, just as precaution. So far all is well. I recommend it for now. My hematologist has also wanted me to stay on lovenox for 10 more days, which is awe full but I guess it makes since, I mean my hormones arent just fixed because it has been 6 weeks postpartum.
I know a 1/2 a pound seems like alot. and it really is, but that is how my little girl did, and sometimes a little for than 1/2 a lb a week.

If you gave your injections in your stomach, were you able to do so for your entire pregnancy? I was just wondering if it reached a point where you couldn't pinch enough skin to do the injection.

rachelle~ i use my under belly, the whole area below the navel, ive still got tons of fatty tissue to pinch however i am obese, so that makes a difference.
bdantionio~ thats awesome that you can make so much, my part-time job will only bring in $330 every two weeks so you can see were going to struggle .
my DH did get offered the job and he starts thursday, so that should help us out alot but we still have to pinch pennies to make it work,
as for the baby, she now weighs 4 lbs 3 oz and is still doing well. i cant wait for the next 6 weeks to fly by or even better id love to have her a week or two early!
my dh co workers threw us a baby shower at his job yesterday, it was cute, they all pitched in and bought the highchair off my registry so i at least have that. im still really nervous im not going to get half the things i need but im trying to just take it for what it is and accpet the baby will have to make do without alot. oh well.

How do you store (after use) and dispose of the needles? I have a small container that came with a Lovenox at Home Kit from the Dr. But it's full, and I have no idea what to use now. Also, how do you throw them out? Can the container go in the normal trash?
