I called my insurance company today to find out what they cover, if anything, for IVF or IUI. I'm not at that stage yet, but just looking ahead if I do have to go that route. I've heard of some policies covering 1 IVF, 3 IVF's, none & just the other day my cousin said her insurance covers up to $10,000 in infertility treatment anyway she chooses to use it. Well, my insurance company doesn't cover any! Nice of them, right? Hopefully I will not have to go that route. Currently I'm on my 1st cycle Clomid only. How much does it cost approx for each try? Again, I'm just looking ahead. Thanks.
I am in the same boat. My doc said that IVF is 10-12 thousand. But he also said IUI is about $2500 and it seems like we spent a lot more than that. How does that happen??? Hopefully you won't have to go that far!

It is sad when you have to consider leaving a job you love in order to get better insurance coverage. My IVF is considered a "bargain" at $8,000-$10,000.
During our second IVF, I wrote to a couple of congressmen/women to see if the state law could ever change to make it mandatory that IVF be covered by insurance companies. I live in Pennsylvania. The responses I got back were not very encouraging to say the least. I gave up after that and figured it is never going to change. So much for me making an impact on the law. I even called my local congressman a couple of times, but only spoke to his liason. Nobody views infertility as a disease. It stinks b/c one state away - New Jersey - IVF is covered. I wish my DH worked in NJ so we could have coverage. One of my main reasons for TTC on our own again is $$$, that and the thought of going through all of the infertility stuff yet one or more times. BTW the "Red Devil" is going to making yet another appearance this month:( I am already spotting and having all of my usual PMS symptoms beginning now at day 23. Pretty soon, I will have ended my period only to begin the next one soon after ovulation It just sucks...
DH and I are 36. Married 10 yrs. p/g 4/01 m/c @ 9 wks. DH dx w/ severe mf - told best chance of conception was IVF. 1st IVF 5/02, m/c @ 7 wks. FET 5/03 conceived triplets and lost triplet at 11 wks. gestation. Had B/G twins @ 32wks. ++ p/g 5/5/05 conceived nat. much to our surprise
Meg, I also live in PA. Too bad my dh doesn't work in NJ, too. It is very close to where we live in PA. So far, I have had blood test, physical, hsg & hubby had sperm count. All is fine. My gyno said I'm borderline PCOS. So far, we are on our 1st month of Clomid. I just stopped the pills and between yesterday and next week, we can TTC. Then I'll have blood work done to see if I ovulated. I'm only in the beginning stages, so I'm really hoping to have success w/o needed IVF. I really don't think we can afford it. Probably could afford IUI, but doc hasn't even suggested it yet. Sorry the "Red Devil" is visiting you. Better luck next month!
Where in PA do you live? I live in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia, about 40 minutes away. DH works in Philly. If only his company would move to NJ:) The "Red Devil" is actually here fully, just spotting, but that is usually a sign that is will be coming:( Are you seeing fertility specialists or going to a regulare gyn? Our RE is with the Reproductive Science Institute in Wayne, PA. We will more than likely going back for a consult in the next couple of months or perhaps next month depending on how we feel about to keep going it on our own. I hope you have good luck w/ clomid and don't have to go through anything else. That is great that all of your tests came back clear. Good luck

I live in Lower Bucks County, PA. I see a gynocologist at The Women's Health Center in Langhorne, PA. I have not gone to a RE, b/c I am really comfortable & confident of the doc's abilities/skills/knowledge. I was wondering if he would refer me to RE if I do need to have IUI in the future. Just taking one step at a time now, though.
It is nice to have someone from PA on the board. I live right outside Pottstown in Limerick - right near the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant I hate living near the Power Plant, but DH assures me it is safe - yeah right !!! That is great that your gyn is treating you and you trust him. I have never trusted my gyn's, not even the new one who is kind of okay. Wishing you lots baby dust
