I am having a 5 day transfer this Friday and I just was wondering what are the pros and cons of a 3 day vs a 5 day transfer. Any help would be great, I feel like I am calling my RE with every little question.

Some of the embryos that look good on day 3 are not. Growing embryos for 5 days helps identify some of the embryos that are not going to make it after day 3. Not all laboratories seem to be able to reliably grow embryos for 5 days. If your lab can grow embryos for 5 days, that is usually a good idea. Good luck.

I have tried to start a new thread, but I have had issues with this.
So here is my question I had a blastocyst transfer on 4/11/08 11 days ago and my dr had me do a HCG booster of .5 on 4/14/08. then I did another booster on 4/21/08 of .5. What are the purposes of these booster shots. I know my HCG levels have been low.
4/11/08 transfer 4/14/08 >1 HCG, did booster shot 4/16/08 74 HCG 4/18/08 24.9 HCG 4/21/08 4.6 HCG, did booster shot
what does all of this mean? I go again tomorrow morning for more blood work.

Giving hCG "boosters" for luteal support stimulates the cells of the follicles to make progesterone, the same way the placenta does. The only problem with that protocol is that you cannot determine if a positive pregnancy test is hCG from an early pregnancy, or from the injection. Good luck.
