Hydrosalpinx Anyone?

Hey there!

I'm new here and curious as to how many of you ladies are seeking IVF or IUI due to a hydrosalpinx.  I was told that my right tube has a hydrosalpinx, most likely due to pelvic adhesions following abdominal surgery awhile back.  But my left tube looked normal on the HSG.  I wrote to Dr. Jacobs on the Infertility 101 site, and he said that IVF was probably my best option, which scares the beejeezus out of me.  Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi,
My obgyn diagnosed me with blocked tubes due to pelvic adhesions and endometriosis.  he said surgery for tubal repair would not likely work.  My dr. in Nashville suggested that I remove both tubes before I thought about ivf.  (That seemed so final).  I removed both tubes and got pregnant via ivf that same year.  I've had two more ivf's.  I had a little boy with the second and the third, we should find out tomorrow if it took.  There is life after blocked or damaged tubes!

Good luck!

Hey!
I have a hydrosalpinx in my right tube as well and my left tube was opened in a  laparoscopy in April and the fluid drained from the right tube.  We have been ttc since then, and before then for almost 3 years.
I am scheduled to have my right tube removed next month followed by our first round of IVF.
Good luck to you and hope this helps!

Thanks for your replies!  Its nice to hear from others who are going through this crappy IF thing as well.  Congrats Kimberly!  Its great to hear that my boat may not be completely sunk yet.  Casey, if I may ask, were both of your tubes a hydrosalpinx?

I only had the hydrosalpinx in the right tube, the left one was just blocked, probably due to an infection.
I'm very nervous about the whole IVF process, I never thought it would come to this!
