Hormones going crazy

I am brand new to this site.  I actually got refered here from Conceive Magazine.

I have been recently diagnoised with PCOS and have just started taking Metformin three weeks ago.  Me and my husband have been ttc for almost a year with no results.  Although we have not been careful in over two years.  Low sperm count is also very common in my husbands family, although he has not yet been tested.

I have noticed since I have started Metformin that my hormones seem to be going crazy!  It also doesnt help that there are pregnant women surrounding me everywhere, sisters, friends, relatives.  And people seem to ask constantly if we are ttc or why we have not started having babies yet, I have a hard time even answering these questions without bursting into tears.  My closest friend just found out she was pregnant this past week, after only trying for 1 month.  Although I am very happy for her, this latest news has sent me into a wave of depression I can't seem to shake.

Any advise on dealing with these new hormone changes and the waves of depression?

BethAnn,
I am 26, turning 27 in Jan and I also have PCOS.  I was taking metformin for a while and had those problems also.  Depression and jealousy of others getting pg.  I also got pretty sick with it.  Do you feel nauseous?  I got off of it.  I am taking herbs now.  I am taking them because the meds weren't working.  I am hoping that taking them restores my cycles and ovulation.  I had to take medroxyprogesterone to bring on my period this cycle since I didn't get one since June or July.  I was supposed to have a HSG done this month also but all the spots were full to get one.  I was a little peaved.  If the HSG looks good and my other tests look good, they are going to start me on clomid also.  I'm not going to stop taking the herbs.  The herbologist said they could always help.  I would recommend getting St Johns Wort for the depression but I wouldn't take it after ovulation.  It hasn't been studied enough to see if it prevents the chances of getting pg.  Take some prenatals too.  The vitamins will help with keeping you healthy and might help the hormones.  Any other questions then let me know.  If you want to e-mail me you can e-mail at denise.smythe@navy.mil or dearndt05@hotmail.com.  Hope to hear from you soon!
