Hi Sarah,

One nurse called me about my positive test results and said my regular nurse is waiting to call the perintinoligst today to find out what is going on and what I need to do. I hope this is a good thing.

My regular nurse is very proactive and I am very happy with her. I just hope I can get a good pertinologist

Hi Tracy and Sarah!  I am in northern Virginia too!  I was just diagnosed with MTHFR homozygous A1298C yesterday and have been researching ever since.  I would love to know who your doc is Sarah.  I have just started at Washington Fertility and have been VERY disappointed.  Finding out that I have this and having the doc say "just keep taking prenates and add baby aspirin" was the last straw.  Every other doc seems to be recommending adding 4mg folic acid for at least a month before ttc.  Have you seen a hematologist?  I would like to make an appt.  My history is 4 pg - 1 dd, then m/c @ 5wks, another dd, then m/c @ 5wks (pg while on bcp).  TTC for 2 yrs w/ no luck.  I feel so fortunate for what I've been given, and finding this out before it affects my health in the many ways it can!

Hi there, wow small world eh! I am hetero for both both genes and currently have kaiser for my health care provider. I went in yesterday and my hcg level is at  3.4 (which I am happy with!) and my nurse said I can try anytime from my miscarriage on 10/28. Right now I am on baby aspirin 1x/day and have been on that for a week. My nurse
says just to let her know when I get preg and I will be on lovenox daily until 14 weeks. I am hopnig three times is a charm!

Hi all.. this board has been pretty quiet. Well I ovulated on Sat and since then I have had this constant dull pain
in my tummy. I have been on baby aspirin for 3 weeks now. Can that be the cause of the pain? I don't remember
having this with my last 2 miscarriages, but then again maybe its a good thing since I have never had this before.

I just found this site- Some HOPE!!!
Before I knew about the MTHFR- I had a healthy baby girl at 39 years of age and then had 4 misscarriages in two years until I went on Heparin Therapy and folic acid and baby asprin. I am now 37 weeks along with a baby boy! And now I am 43 so there is a lot of hope!!!

I am so happy to have found this site. I also have the MTHFR mutation and I had 2 m/c, one in July 05 and the other one 10/06. I am so afraid and worried. Is great to hear success stories.

Does the shots hurt?

I am the BIGGEST chicken when it comes to shots and it was so hard to do it to myself at first but they really don't hurt at all. Most of the time i can't even feel it-it depends on where I do it. If I do feel it, the worst is a little prick like a mosquito bite. I had my husband do it a few times too-that helped.

Hello Everyone,
I just found out today that I have the MTHFR mutation after a complete panel of blood tests due to the fact that my sister developed a blood clot this past year.    This is one of the first sites that popped up and I thought I would share some good news with you ladies.  I am 6 months pregnant with my second healthy child.  If it wasn't for my sister, I wouldn't even have been tested.  Just thought I would share the fact that I've been pregnant twice with healthy babies so it can happen.  All I have to do is take my Rx for the vitamin B complex.  Good luck!

Hi everyone.

I just found out I had MTHFR homo....I'm a bit upset that I didn't get tested after my first miscarriage.  I'm now p/g with my second and am certain this will also end in a m/c.  I'm feeling completey numb. I found out last week I was carrying 2 gestationals sacs, so I guess it would be my second m/c but three losses?  I've been bleeding steadily the past 3 days and have never had any signs of p/g with this one.  I'll see the Dr. tomorrow to find out my options.  I don't want to have another D&C as I had to have 2 nearly back to back last year when I lost the first baby - my body did not seem to recover well from this as I had problems with irregular cycles, non-ovulation, etc.  I recall my Dr saying something about taking a pill - not sure what it's called, but it's also used in cancer treatment.  I think it kills everything inside of you & must help expel it faster.  Does anyone know what this is and have they used it?  Would you recommend this as an alternative to waiting for a natural d&c?  Thanks much.

leea

all depends on how far you are meant to be i had 4 dc's in the past year !

and on the lastone i had they found out the reason !
i had a Partial Molar pregnancy !

( it is when 2 sperms go in the egg and only 1 grows the other one attaches it self to the placenta and can be cancerous! and also feeds its self from the blood cells  of the growing baby!  which will cause a miscarrige !)

lets hope you are just spotting and  nothing more

i'm being treated from loads of things !
doctors also found a type of Mutattion in my blood !
and found a type of cancer in my uterous caused by the last pregnancy !
and i have beta Thalesimea ! and  now i have treatment till end of October 07  to get a clear result !
if you  get the d&c  they may give you an actual result on what was wrong if you dont you wont know !

i know its not good to have so many d&c's but i was 14-16 weeks with the last pregnancy and they had no other choice to take the Cancerous cells out of me !
by doing a DNC !

it cannot be picked up by an ultrasound ether!

if you dont take the pill you may have to go through chimo therapy !!  dont mind the spelling ether plzz !

thats what the doctors said to me

if the pill dont work and

your blod tests dont  drop as they are meant to you could loose even the ovaries !

i'm scared but the chances of having this type of problem again are 1-2 % chances  which its minimum !

hope all the best for you ! and good luck

Jester,

God bless you...seems like you've been put through the ringer for sure.  I'm sorry you have to wait until Oct to have a baby.  Thank goodness you are still young.  I'm 38 and never had a baby - been trying for 2 years now.  I saw my DR today and he said so far this p/g is hanging in there (despite the bleeding).  I have no signs of p/g at all, which is what worries me (in addition to the bleeding) - I guess I'll also know more once I get the results from my blood test to see if my HCG levels are still rising.  I'm trying to remain positive, but it's hard.  I don't even know how to date this p/g since my last menstrual period was in Nov. and I had a negative HPT in Dec.

i know its very hard for you and everyone else but you gotta have a bit of Hope !

i didnt findout about being pregnant with my 1st pregnancy untill i was about 3 months coz it wouldnt show up in blood tests !

when i did a home pregnancy @ 7 weeks it said i was pregnant but the doctors test didnt show nothing untill i had an ultrasound and i was 3 months along !

did not feel anything ( like a pregnancy )  untill later on i suffered really bad pains all the way through !
doctors didnt believe me at all !
i cant carry babies full term and they wanted me to keep him in till the 40 weeks mark  i was in labour in october  in november 9th he died and the 11th he was born !

with the lastone i was 4 weeks and already showing ! and baby had started to move on the 20th of december !

i would of being about 11 weeks than  and the 27th of december they said that the baby's size was a 9 1/2 weeks pregnancy but the way the baby was formed it could of being between 14-16 weeks but what had  happened was  one of the twins died before hand and killed the growing baby !

i dont know what to say LEEA  but all i can say it is !
what ever happens ! i'm here for ya !
and keep a brave face !
if its meant to be it will be ! if its not !
i know its gonna hurt you very much hun !
but only  you got the power to make it work !
think positive !  and everything would be fine !

but i cant tell you that from personal experience !
