Can anyone give me some input on Gonal F whether it is good or bad?

My re told me today that it might be another way to go other than Clomid.  I just finished 2 cycles of Clomid.  The first was ok, side effects were not to bad for me.  I only produced 1 good follicle, howeve I did not get pg.  I began my 2nd cycle last Thurs.  This cycle I seem to be having a lot of abdominal pain and cramping.  When I went in for my day 11 ultra sound and blood work they discovered I already ovulated.   They say it may have been a left over follicle that never developed    Didn't realize that was possible.  I asked if there was anything else we could try since I was having such bad side effects from the Clomid and she mentioned Gonal F.  I also seem to have a cm problem from the Clomid and she said Gonal F does not have that side effect.

If anyone could give me some opinions it would be greatly appreciated.  I am stuck, I am not sure what I should be doing.  Give Clomid 1 more try or move on to Gonal F?

Shelly,

I just read in a book I have that Gonal-F ranges from $40 to $100 per ample and usually 5 to 40 amples are used in each cycle.

YEP LIZ.. BEEN ON CLOMID SEVERAL TIMES.
WAS ON IT FOR 3 MTHS STRAIGHT PRIOR TO GOING
TO MY RE WITH ZIP-O LUCK AND THEN MY RE PUT
ME ON IT FOR AN IUI.  I DONT THINK HE IS IMPRESSED
WITH THE OUTCOME OF EGGS/FOLLICLES. THE
LAST TIME HE PUT ME ON ANASTRAZOLE OR
ARIMIDEX AND I ONLY HAD ONE EGG GOING INTO
THE IUI THAT WAS AT 19 AND THEY LIKE THEM
TO BE AT LEAST 20 I THINK.  LOW AND BEHOLD
HE IS HAVING ME DO THE ANASTRAZOLE THING
AGAIN IN JULY.  I'M NOT THAT EXCITED ABOUT IT
SINCE I ONLY HAD 1 OKAY EGG LAST TIME.  THIS
IS WHAT THEY SAID I WOULD BE ON IN JULY
ANASTRAZOLE - 1MG TWICE A DAY FOR CD 3-7
GONAL-F OR FOLLISTIM - AMOUNT DET AFTER BW
OVIDREL A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR TO IUI
PROMETRIUM ( PROGESTERONE) AFTER THE IUI
I SWEAR THIS STUFF MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A LITTLE
LAB RAT  .  SOUNDS LIKE A BIT MUCH DON'T YOU
THINK??? HAVE YOU EVER HAD TO DO ALL THESE
MEDS IN ONE CYCLE??  THIS WILL BE MY 3RD IUI
COMING UP.

I'm starting injections this next cycle. My doctor gave me a scrip for Gonal-F and Follitism and told me to use which ever one was cheaper. He said they were basically the same drug. From my net research it looks like Follitism is about 1/2 the price of Gonal-F.

HI FW17,

Thanks so much for you message in reference to
the cost of Follistim being less expensive.  The
cost on the Gonal-F  has me nervous.  GREAT to
know there is another option.  I tell you this is
a roller coaster ride.  It is so great to have ladies
to share this crazy experience

Hi FW17 and Shelly,

Thanks for the information on the meds.  I will have to ask my re about the follitism.  I never heard of that and they never mentioned it before.
