Hello everyone,
I am looking for some kind of advice, I went through IVF treatment and got pregnant, but Monday I went for my 7 week u/s and was told there was no heart beat and had two empty sacks.  I am trying to cope with this but also understand what happend I do not if there is anyone that has the same problem.  My doctor suggested to get a D & C or it is up to me if I just whant to miscarrage on my own.  Please give me some advice.  I also wanted to know if we try again can this happen more than on time?

If you wait to miscarry on your own, it could take just days or several weeks to happen, therefore, you can start trying sooner if you have a D&C.  There are risks to every operation / procedure, but they are minimal.  I had a D&C at 8 weeks because I wanted to try again as soon as I possibly could.

Did you try again?  Did you have the same thing?

Hi I am sorry to hear of your empty sacks. Just wanted to tell you my story. I had low beta numbers at 6 weeks and they brought me in for an early ultrasound. They found empty sack (Blighted ovum) and told me I would miscarry within a couple of weeks. The next week (7 weeks) I went in for a follow up with my RE and he found fetal pole and heartbeat at that point. So please be sure that dr is 100% before scheduling a d and c. Unfortunately, in my case, heartbeat stopped at 9 weeks and I had the d and c. I am now waiting for my first af so I can start trying again. Good luck!

I will make sure, I have another u/s on this coming Monday.  Did your Dr. ever tell you what causes this (for babies not to keep growing)? Do you how long after the D & C you can start all over?  We have 4 frozen eggs, but I am very scared that this might happen again I don't know what to do.

Well I was told I could start trying again after my first af. Supposedly blighted ovums are pretty common and one of the main causes of early miscarriages. So most people go on to have a healthy pregnancy next time. The d and c wasnt bad, but I had a laparascopy at the same time. I had mine on May 30 and still dont af yet.

I had what they call empty sack 2x.  The last time they monitored for 3 weeks prior to recommending a dnc, however at the last ultrasound there was something present but nother to the dr that looked promissing so i scheduled a dnc the night before i started bleeding.  The results from the dnc showed chromesome 3 disorder.  usually if you have an empty sack then a presents of a fetus there will be somekind of issue.
