I WENT FOR U/S AT 8 WKS, DR SAW ENLARGED SAC, BUT NOTHING ELSE. HAD HCG LEVEL DRAWN AND IT WAS 33000. RETURNED 3 DAYS LATER, HCG HAD DROPPED TO 24000... DR. THINKS THAT I HAVE BLIGHTED OVUM, SCHEDULED D/C FOR 4 DAYS LATER... DID ANOTHER U/S IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE D/C AND THERE WAS A FETAL CORE (APPROX 5 WEEKS) MY GESTATIONAL SAC WAS APPROX 7 WEEKS IN SIZE AND SETTING VERY LOW IN MY UTERUS. THERE WAS NO HEARTBEAT, BUT NOT A BLIGHTED OVUM. RETESTED HCG LEVEL AND IT IS BACK UP TO 27500. MY DOCTOR AND NURSE HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE... SCHEDULED TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER TEST AND FOLLOW UP U/S, BUT I AM SO CONFUSED. HAS ANYONE HEARD OF HCG LEVELS DROPPING AND THEN RISING AGAIN IN A PREGNANCY?

I am having a somewhat similar experience and hope you receive some good news from others on this site. I had an u/s at 8 wks 4 days. Saw gestational sac, but nothing else. u/s technican said measurement of the sac put me at 6 wks 4 days. After sending me for blood work, my Hcg was 36,907 with progesterone of 14.9, 2 days later my Hcg was 31,805 with progesterone of 18.3. I'm due for another u/s in 2 days. I have no symptoms of miscarriage, but do continue to have pregnancy symptoms. The doctor is already treating this as an impending miscarriage but I'm not giving up hope just yet. please keep us updated and I'll do the same.
