What success rate would you give 4-cell embryos that are transferred on day three? They were described as fragmented.

Thank you

Also, they were scored a 5 on a 1-5 scale.

Thanks

In terms of cell number, it difficult to predict the developmental potential of these embryos because they had not yet progressed to the 8-cell stage (which they should have done by Day 3). Many genetically abnormal embryos stop growing between the 4 and 8-cell stage.

Different laboratories use different rating scales. For some laboratories a "1" is the best grade, for others a "5" is the best grade. However, since your were told that the embryos exhibited fragmentation, and a "best grade" embryo would have no fragmentation, I will assume that the Grade 5 you refer too is the worse grade on this laboratory's grading scale. If this is true, your chances of success are very low.
