Hi everyone. I have been posting on the sounding board, but firgured since I am officially in my 2ww I would post over here too. We just finished our first IVF/ICSI and I had my transfer this moring. There was problems with my ER and out of 19 follicles they were only able to get 6 eggs. Luckily all 6 fertilized. We did a 3 day transfer and had 2 8 cell grade 1 (highest quality) put in today and were able to freeze 3. We lost 1 embie , not too bad. So now I am on the 2ww. I think I may get my beta test one day early since my retrieval was on a Sunday and the lab for b/w isn't open on Sunday. So 10 more days to go! Anyone who would like to chat I look foward to hearing from you.

Hi Lyly,

Congrats on being on the 2ww. I am starting my first IVF in May. We did 5 IUI's last year and all of them failed, so now we are ready to start the next step!

Our situation is slightly different as we will be travelling overseas to have our IVF done as we can't afford the $20 000 that the RE in Atlanta wanted to charge us.

Please keep in touch and let me know how it goes!!

Nikki

Hi my first IVF/ICSI also. Today is 2 day past 5 day transfer. They transfered 2 blasts. My beta is on next wednesday. Do you have any symptoms?

Marina - Jan 30th, 2008 7:53 PM

Well,Lyly, now you are oficialy on 2ww.Congrads!Thanks god eveything worked out with your embies.I know 10 days will be the longest, but you'll be there!

lyly14 - Jan 30th, 2008 10:47 PM

Nikki- Wow overseas that is crazy. Did you look into cheaper places for treatment in the states? I have heard that there are pretty reasonably priced IVF in New York City. $20,000 is really a lot of money. So if you can afford the trip and the IVF is affordable, that is great. Good luck!

Wannababy- I only had my transfer this morning and it was a 3 day, so you are a few days ahead of me. My nipples have been hard and sore since my trigger. I haven't had a chance to have any symptoms other than from meds. I am starting to get some cramping. I don't know if that is normal but it just started about 1 hr ago. I hope that is not a bad sign. I think my beta is on on Sat 2/9/08 unless they make me wait until monday 2/11/08. Technically I am supposed to test on Sunday but the lab is closed so it could go either way, hoping earlier than later.

Marina- :)

Hi guys,
I just want to say that go overseas is not a bad idea,if you know references and reliable clinic. We were considering go in Ukraine ,I grew up there and my best friend just had IVF twins,I've talk to the doctors zilion times,it cost $5000(including EVERYTHING-all the tests before and after,monitoring,meds)+$2000 round trip tickets,+$500 for food=$7500,not too bad.we paid around $17000 here. And we wouldn't have to pay for the hotel,i know planty of people there, who'd love me to stay with them.BUT!The biggest problem was-time.We couldn't aford to be off work for 1 month.Don't belive thee clinic,if they tell you to come just for 2 weeks-eveybody protocol is different and they need to monitor you as soon as you go on lupron to ajust your dose,if they need to.So if you have time,I think it worse trying.Good luck!Let us know what happens.Where you go to have this done?

lyly14 - Jan 31st, 2008 10:03 PM

Eek- Good luck to you too. When is your beta?

As far as the overseas IVF I have heard some of the places allow you to do the monitoring part with another doctor and do the ER and transfer there. Some insurance companies cover the monitoring of b/w and u/s and don't count it as IVF. I know mine does that. The bw and u/s are covered under regular medical and the only part that was deducted from my lifetime maximum was the actual ER and ET. If you don't have time to be out of the country for a month that might be something to look into.

Hi ladies,

Just had my three day transfer this morning. Had one 5 cell AA and one 3 cell BB embies put in. I've been doing nothing bu resting all day. They don't have me scheduled to check my progesterone level until february 11th with the pg test on the 18th. It seems like a long time to wait for the progesterone level. Good luck to everyone and babydust for us all.

Vicki

lyly14 - Feb 3rd, 2008 9:41 PM

Hi Vicki- It's nice to have you over here. It looks like your clinic looks at progesterone 1 week after transfer and beta 2 weeks after the transfer. Wow , that seems so long too wait. I had my progesterone and estrogen checked yesterday, one day short of a week from the ER. He said my numbers were good and levels were quite high. I was at a birthday party for my cousin's son and it was loud so I didn't catch the actual numbers. My beta is 2 weeks from the retrieval, but luckily he is letting me go a day early since my actual day is Sunday. He was almost going to make me wait the extra day! Do you think you will hold out for the blood test or are you going to do a home test? Praying for BFP's all around.

vligertwood - Feb 4th, 2008 7:57 PM

Hi Lyly,

Not really sure if I'll be able to hold out or not. I'm pretty sure dh won't want to wait. I've already warned him about false negatives if we try it too early but he's as anxious as I am. No symptoms yet except being tired and a sore butt from the progesterone shots. Speaking of which I need to go get tonights ready. I'll check in with all of you tomorrow.

Eek & Wannababy, How are you ladies doing? Never wanted time to pass as much as now.

lyly14 - Feb 4th, 2008 8:49 PM

Vicki- I know what you mean. I have 5 more days left to go and I am starting to get really anxious myself. I wasn't really thinking about it before, but now I find my self counting the days over and over and in different ways. I am so bloated it's not even funny. I had to put on my coat at work today because I was afraid people would notice how much my belly is sticking out. I have also been having some mild/moderate cramps , but who knows. I guess its a 50/50 shot. I am thinking it is going to be a bfn but maybe I just don't want to get disappointed. Talk to you later.

Wanababy- Wednesday is almost here! How are you holding up? Did you take a hpt yet or are you waiting for the beta?

Baby dust to all the 2ww girls!!!!

Marina - Feb 4th, 2008 10:35 PM

Hi ladies
Hey Lyly! You stop thinking negative,ok?Your babies need a positive vibe from their mommy.
As for the test-dont do it before 10 days after your retrieval,I know exactly how it feels,we all were there and most of us break down anyway,it's ok.

lyly14 - Feb 5th, 2008 1:58 PM

Well today is 9 days after the the ER but I still plan on trying to wait till at least Saturday when they do the beta. I don't think I could stand seeing a negative hpt so I really want to wait for the beta.

vligertwood - Feb 6th, 2008 2:57 PM

Lyly,

Hold out if you can, Saturday's not that far away (yeah right) I asked dh about it and his big question is if I thought I could deal with a possible false negative. I told him I thought I could but I want to wait until at least next Friday, that will still be three days before my beta but hopefully the weekend won't be as stressful.

lyly14 - Feb 6th, 2008 6:22 PM

Vicki- I am trying to hold out, only 3 more days, but time feels like it is dragging. We will see if I can wait. How are you feeling? Back to work tomorrow right? Talk to you soon.

vligertwood - Feb 7th, 2008 12:32 PM

Hey Lyly,

Back at work and its funny how fast you get tired when you haven't done anything for a week. I'm feeling pretty good, a little cramping and a bit of a belly ache that comes and goes. I'm going from hot to cold back to hot.

Anyway, it's lunch time and I have a patient to check out first. So I'll check in later.

lyly14 - Feb 7th, 2008 1:13 PM

Vicki- I have been exhausted myself. I am so tired, but have been having trouble staying asleep. I wake up all night to pee, not sure what that is all about. Anyway I am really getting the itch to do a hpt, but I am just so scared it will be a bfn! I don't know which one will be worse hearing bad news from the dr. or the negative hpt. I was okay before, but the closer it gets to finding out the worse I feel. How are you holding up emotionally?

vligertwood - Feb 7th, 2008 4:05 PM

I'm doing ok emotionally at least at this point. Trying to figure out what might be symptoms and whats imagination. I called my RE's office today to ask about a tens unit for my butt, they hadn't heard of using one so when in doubt no.

I'm sitting here yawning right now. With what you've been saying about the possibility of a bfn (possibly false), try to hold out until Saturday. You don't want to go through that if you don't have too. They will call you Saturday afternoon, right, not make you wait until Monday.

JasJulesMom - Feb 7th, 2008 7:52 PM

Hey Lyly. I am so excited and anxious for you. I cannot wait to hear. I probably would have done 10 hpt by now. You definitely have a great deal of will power. How are you feeling?

lyly14 - Feb 7th, 2008 10:55 PM

I am feeling good Debbie thanks. 2 more days to go!!!!! I will keep you posted. I think I am too nervous to actually take an hpt this time. How are things with you? Are you guys trying again or still on a break?

Vicki- as long as the lab has the results like they are supposed to they will call that afternoon or evening. I decided to go to a different lab this Sat because I don't want to go where that other woman is. I am in no mood for "Nothing yet?!" comments.

lyly14 - Feb 8th, 2008 9:44 AM

Okay so I finally broke down this morning and did and hpt and it was BFN!!!!!!! So sad :(

vligertwood - Feb 8th, 2008 10:31 AM

Oh Lyly,

I'm so sorry. I'll pray that tomorrow test is different. HUGS HUGS

lyly14 - Feb 8th, 2008 2:41 PM

Thanks Vicki, but I am prepared to hear bad news. Hopefully you will have better luck!

JasJulesMom - Feb 8th, 2008 9:38 PM

Lyly keep the faith. You never know. Do not get discouraged. You may get great news on Saturday. I am praying for you and dh. I wish you all the luck. As far as us, I just started IUI cycle. RE was quite impressed by the 45 lb weightloss. I hope it works. It is getting very expensive. They have me on 375 Gonal f for 6 days now. I had u/s today and had three 13,14,12. Have to go back Sunday for more bloodwork. Hopefully i will be ready to trigger. First time with IUI usually do timed bd. Anyway, I am anxious to hear from you tomorrow. Good luck and lots of baby dust.

lyly14 - Feb 9th, 2008 7:30 AM

Thanks girls for the well wishes. I am off to the lab. I will have the results by this evening, but.......... I am pretty sure I already know my answer. I used a really sensitive test so I guess we will see if it is truly negative or just really low positive. I will let you know what happens.

Vicki- how are you doing?

Debby- That is such great news. How does dh feel about having to give the sample? My dh was not too happy about it but of course did it for the end result. Good luck and keep me posted.

JasJulesMom - Feb 9th, 2008 9:12 AM

Dh not thrilled with the sample either, but he feels it may be a better alternative than the pressure of timed bd. who knows we will see, hopefully I will do IUI by Tuesday.

My prayers are with you and dh today. Hope you get BFP

lyly14 - Feb 9th, 2008 5:39 PM

Well first IVF/ICSI was a bust, definite BFN! I am suppossed to call the office Monday to schedule a consult. Not sure when we will be able to try again since the lab is closing this month to move to a new location and wont re-open till april or may. I think maybe I will talk to him about putting all 3 embies in for the frozen transfer. I hope everyone else has better luck than me this time around.

vligertwood - Feb 11th, 2008 9:23 AM

Lyly,

I'm so sorry hon, I'm sorry I haven't written back sooner, but the computer at the house is down. I went down this morning for my progesterone bloodwork. The receptionist asked for $$. When I reminded her I had a package she then told me my first beta is covered but after that my package is done. I can't believe that's right so now I have to call and make sure everything else is already paid for.

lyly14 - Feb 11th, 2008 12:17 PM

Vicki- So did you have to pay for the progesterone today? I would think the follow up to the IVF should be included, but I guess they may not feel the same way. I already called the RE this morning and have an appt for next tuesday for my consult. Then I should be able to find out the dates for the lab and what to expect from the frozen transfer. How are you feeling? any symptoms? One more week untill your beta right?

vligertwood - Feb 11th, 2008 3:05 PM

No, I didn't pay today, today and my first beta were included in the package, but after that we're back to paying. I did check with the nurse today. She basically said that if I'm pg then they want more bloodwork Thursday, then Monday, then in two weeks an u/s then they release me to the ob/gyn. If I'm paying out of pocket, tho, I'll do the bloodwork up here and at least save the drive to tampa. One more week to wait. I'm sorry you have to wait another week to find out your next step, but remember, we're all here for you.

lyly14 - Feb 11th, 2008 8:14 PM

Vicki- Did you get the results of your progesterone yet? Hope everything is good. Keep my posted.
