HCG Levels Not Doubling
After 4 years of trying to conceive, I finally got a plus sign on the pregnancy test. On my first appointment at 8 weeks, my doctor wanted to get an ultrasound because I had a small amount of brown spotting. During the ultrasound, they discovered that my baby was only measuring 6 weeks and according to my calendar I was 8 weeks. She wanted to check my HCG levels that day and come back in 3 days to draw my levels again. Well, a few hours after my blood work was taken, I got a phone call from my doctor and my HCG levels went from 27,500 to only 29,500. They are supposed to double in 3 days. She told me that I have a 95% chance of miscarrying, and told me not to be surprised if we don't hear a heartbeat at my next ultrasound, which was 5 days away. I was convinced that my pregnancy was doomed. Well, at my ultrasound my baby went from 6 weeks and 2 days, to 7 weeks and 5 days with a heart rate of 135. Don't give up. HCG levels are just textbook and do not worry about those stupid numbers until you have an ultrasound. Thanks to a lot of support and prayer, the doctor was wrong.
