Hi Lyly,

Just got the call, I trigger tonight at 8:30. DH goes in at 6:45 on Thursday and I follow up at 8:30. I'm glad you're feeling better. Also found out that they won't let us take a cab back to the hotel, we have to have someone drive us. So we're now paying for two rooms so our friend can drive us back and forth.

I'm so tired I could go to sleep right here on my desk.

How are the embies doing?

That crazy, someone will be driving you, the cab driver! Why does it make a difference? I guess you have a friend that will be around to take you. That is good, they get a short overnight vacation!

As far as my embies,I am really not sure how they are doing. I am praying we have 6 strong embies. ;D I got a call from the nurse today and she told me the transfer was at 8:15 and to be there at 7:30. I asked her about an update and she said I will find everything out tomorrow :( All she knew was that 6 out of 6 fertilized, but I knew that already. ::) I forgot to tell you about the progesterone shot yesterday, I had my first one. My mother who is an ex-nurse (retired due to illness) gave it to me. She scared the crap out of me. The whole time she was filling the syringe, she was saying "this is a really big needle, this stuff is really thick, this is going to really hurt". Gee thanks ma, as if I wasn't nervous enough. Finally I said cut it out and just do it already. It wasn't that bad, hurt for a second. So now I know what to expect. Well good luck with everything and as soon as you are up to it let me know how everything went. I will be thinking of you.

You're talking the progesterone already? I don't think I start that until day of transfer. I might be wrong but I don't think so, I'll have to double check my calendar. I'll be praying for you tomorrow. How many are they going to put in?

I know my directions were a bit different than yours. You were on the doxy much longer than me. I was told the only thing I take the night before and day of the ER was the doxy. One the night before and then 1 when I got home and one that night (only 3 doses total). Then the day after the ER I start taking 1cc of pio and 1 16mg medrol tablet, and 1 baby asprin. The medrol is only for 5 days total. The rest continues until they tell me to stop. I will also be starting estrogen patches (vivelle) 2 patches every 2 days. This starts the day after the transfer. We will hopefully be transfering 2 embryos if there are still 2 good ones to put in tomorrow. How did the trigger go?

Well all we have left to do now is wait. We put in 2 8 cell grade 1 embies ( they were the highest quality possible). They were able to freeze 3 and we lost 1. Not too bad. I was hoping all would make it , but really hope this works and we don't need any of the frozen! They gave me some pill (Indocin) when I got there that was supposed to help relax my cervix to make the transfer easier. She said it was like a motrin. I never heard of it before. So Saturday I go for a progesterone and estrogen check. Only 10 more days till the big test, but who is counting. How are you feeling?

vligertwood - January 30

Great news on the transfer. Glad to know about the embies. The trigger went fine. My butt hurts where he actually gave me the shot but no other symptoms. I did double check my calendar and it seems I am supposed to start my progesterone on Friday. And they have Medrol on my calendar with question marks. So we'll see what they say. They have given me a valium to take with my last sip of water before I walk in the office the morning of the transfer. For some reason we cannot take the pill after we walk in the building. As far as emotions, I'm excited and nervous. but I know you know how that goes. Get some good rest over the next two days.

Vicki- Your ER is tomorrow. Yeah! My nipples have been so sore and hard since my trigger. It is driving me nuts because I felt pg even before they put anything in. I guess they try to trick the body into thinking it is so it will take. I was told the medrol is usually used when you do icsi. When they do any type of manipulation to the eggs your body may reject them so they gove you medrol to shut down your immune response. That is good that you have a valium to take for the transfer, it will help relax you. It really wasn't bad though. Except for me he said my cervix was deep and had to change the speculum and keep adjusting it. I am out of work for the rest of the day and tomorrow. So I am on the couch resting. Good luck tomorrow.

Hi Lyly,

We had our retrievals today. As I was coming out of it, I thought I remembered someone saying that we had two eggs but I wasn't sure. So we waited until we actually got to speak with one of the embryologists and she told us that she actually got to look at the eggs before she came to talk to us. Yes just two eggs, but the good news is that they were both mature. They were going to be doing the icsi after lunch and I'll know whether or not they fertilized tomorrow. We got home about 12:30 and we've been pretty much sleeping all day. We were supposed to have sypro for dh but apparently it wasn't given to us when we picked up his meds back in November. We're not too worried, tho, He's been on the doxycycliene for 10 days now and I had his doctors office call it in so I'll pick it up tomorrow. Can't wait until tomorrow to find out if they both fertilized. I'm supposed to start the medrol tonight as well.

Talk to you as soon as I know something.

Vicki

vicki- That is great news. I am so happy they were able to get the 2 mature eggs. I am praying they both fertilize. My thoughts are with you. How are you feeling? Are you going to do a 3 day transfer?

vligertwood - February 1

Yeah, they're doing a three day transfer. I'm still waiting for news if they both fertilized or not.

lyly14 - February 1

Vicki- I am praying you get good news! Let me know as soon as you hear.

vligertwood - February 1

Hi,

They just called. apologized for calling so late but they've been swamped. Anyway, dh took the call. Both eggs fertilized. They didn't tell him much about cell count or anything. I'm starting the progesterone tonight and they will call in the morning to let us know when the transfer is scheduled for Sunday.

lyly14 - February 2

Vicki- That is great news that both eggs fertilized. I hate that they make you wait. My dr. didn't call till the afternoon either. It's like being on pins and needles all the waiting. They didn't give me any more info other than if they fertilized the day after and I didn't know how they were doing until the actual transfer. I still don't know how the 3 that were frozen were. I figured if this doesn't work I will ask then. That is so exciting about Sunday. How are you holding up? Are you nervous?

vligertwood - February 2

Lyly, right now it doesn't seem like I'm nervous. I think I've been worried about dh too much to stress over it. THe fact that I knew when I left that the two eggs looked good helped. I figure I'll be a wreck during the 2ww. Dh says he's doing fine, but he didn't complete stop bleeding until this morning. He's going back to work on Monday and I'm not going back until Thursday. It doesn't seem fair as his procedure was so much more intrusive than mine was.

But since I'm having the implantation Sunday we've decided I'm on my back for two days and then we're off on Wednesday anyway.

How are you feeling?

lyly14 - February 2

Vicki- I am feeling okay, just a bit uncomfortable at times. I have had some shortness of breath and my stomach feels distended and tight. Fortunately or unfortunately I think it is nothing more than just constipation! I have been really off since the anesthesia from the ER. I hope dh is feeling okay. I totally forgot he needed to have that procedure. Is it normal to have that much bleeding from that procedure? He must at least be happy it was successful. That is great that you get to have that much time off. I really couldn't afford to use my days. I already took 1 for after the ER and 2 for the transfer. I would have liked to have stayed home on Friday too, and have the whole weekend to relax and rest but I need to watch my days. If this doesn't work, I will need more days and if it does work I will definitely need my days. We don't have paid maternity leave, so I have to use my sick days for the 6 weeks. If I don't have enough days I get docked. So how are you feeling since the ER?

vligertwood - February 2

I was bloated and constipated as well. I used our secret weapon. If you buy jelly beans or jelly bears made with splenda. It WILL clean you out quickly. They come in small packages, you can pick them up in the diet candy area at CVS or Walgreens. Only eat about a half a bag. Within an hour or two you'll be alright. I got my first progesterone shot last night. No problem at the time, but the site aches this morning. I'm going to try to have him keep it in the same spot all the time if I can stand it. I figure one sore spot is better than many. I can't wait for them to call and give me an update on the embies and to get scheduled for tomorrow. We'll talk to you later.
