TICKINGCLOCK - November 13

Hi Ladies:

Got af again the day before I was supposed to do the preg test. (thur) I knew it was coming had all the symptoms. I wanted to curl up in a ball of depression again but somehow managed not to. Went to the doc today for a sonogram and he perscribed a drug called
"femara" (prev I was on clomid 100 mg.) This drug is used to treat women with breast cancer in postmenopausal women) I have alot of faith in my doctors judgement but I never heard of this drug being used to treat infertility.. Has anyone else used this drug before? I was wondering if anyone had any good results with it. I was trying to look it up on the internet
all the sites found were just mentioning the breat cancer stuff nothing on fertility.

Gina,

Sorry to hear about AF arriving...I know how frustrating and emotional that is. Try to keep your chin up as best as you can.

In regards to Femara, I tried it for a month with an IUI. My doctor prescribed it for me b/c my lining was getting a bit thin on the Clomid. Supposedly, Femara is supposed to do the same as Clomid, but not affect your lining. I didn't have many side effects from Clomid, but did with Femara (emotional, back hurt) but everyone is different! I read the same thing about Femara being for women with breast cancer and it freaked me out, but my RE said that this drug is now becoming quite popular for infertility.

Good luck to you and buckets of baby dust to you!!

Shannon :)

hey gina, sooo sorry to here about AF. i have been on both clomid and femera... clomid didn't do much of anything for me... but my body responded alot beter to the femera.. my lining was 14 in trilamiter this month and it has never been that thick.... my RE said that femera acts like clomid in most ways but doesn't have the same side effect (thin lining etc.) the only thing is i have crazy mood swings and i can't figure out if it is from the femera or the repranex(inj) they got me on... (i really feel sorry for DH most of the time)... sorry to rambel.. but what i was trying to say is that personally, my body reacted alot more positively to the femera than the clomid... my dr. swares by this drug...
i wish you the best of luck and am sending bunches of baby dust your way!!!! please keep us posted.... my thoughts and prayers are with you...

Hi Karen,

I am sorry that you must wait yet more time. it is the one thing I feel that I do not have so much of. I am grieving with you.

I am stupid and I do not know what af means.

Please tell me.

Hello, Gina. I know the feeling. I have been trying to conceive 3 yrs now with my DH. On my first cycle of Clomid in Apr I got preg, only to m/c 3 weeks later. Now I am back on Clomid, I guess with hopes that it will work again. If I'm not preg at the end of this cycle, I am going to ask my Dr. about trying Femara. Best to all ttc!

Good luck Ticking clock!! One of the hard part is the wait, but it will go faster than you think. So, I'm sending you healthy and positive energy.
I was on Clomid for my first IUI and oh my.... I felt that something had taken my mind and my body over. It was so bizarre. I didn't feel like myself. For the second IUI, I aksed the doc not to put me on that drug again. It was too weird.
All the best!!!!!!
