2 week wait - symptoms

ivabies,

Thanks again for kind words. I did take beta today and the nurse called to say they will not have results until tomorrow am, as I went for test too late. I was not going to go, but I called dr office this am and they stated, I should do the beta to verify if pregnant or not as the progesterone may delay AF for 2-3 days. I am trying to stay positive but, I feel that that is what has occurred. My situation is that I have a rightside blocked tube and had 3 large follicles on the R, Dr proceeded with IUI as the L tube may pickup the egg???? This is rare.

But enough about me..........I hope you are handling your last day of your 2ww ok, I know it is extremely hard and it is truly the hardest thing I have every had to deal with because it is so personal. I try and stay focused on the positive .......health, love and modern medicine. I hope you have great news tomorrow !!!!

Hi Chris,

Well I am so glad you decided to go for the test, either way it's good to be sure. Hey can you imagine tomorrow you get great news, somtimes when you least expect it good news may come. If it does fail please don't give up there have been so many sucess stories you can not believe I have read women doing it 10 times and then bingo!!!....I know it is emotionally draning but once it happens we proably will forget we ever went through this......

As for me, thank you, I pry for good news too....Although today I had sever cramping nt sure if that is a bad sign but i don't think it is a good sign.....we will see tomorrow keeping my fingers crossed. Keep me posted tomorrow and try to get some rest.

I don't have ANY of the symptoms u guys mention, especially not the cramping... i'm starting to think that must mean something negative... I'm on day 8 after first IUI

sundance007 - February 15

Hey estie -
I wouldn't be too concerned about symptoms at this point. I don't have any unusual signs either, except sore bbs, which everyone is attributing to the progesterone. The only other thing I've noticed is that I've gained a few pounds, but I think that might be from the hormone injections. If I'm BFN I'm hitting the gym hard and will try to lose some weight before my next round of IUI. If BFP then I'll just accept that sweatpants is the only comfortable clothing for the next 9 months!!! :-) DH left today on a business trip so I'm trying to keep busy and not obsess about whether IUI worked. The biggest bummer is that I really miss my glass of wine at night. My friends who conceived naturally tell me not to worry about a glass of wine, most of them were drinking before they knew they were pregnant. I think it's different when you are going through fertility treatments because you know that you COULD be, so I feel guilty having a drink. Any of you ladies have an opinion about this?

Estie, when do you have your beta test? It must be around the 22nd right? Mine is on the 24th. It's going to be the longest 10 days and I'm scared to get my hopes up, but the funny thing is if we're meant to have good news this month, then right this very minute we are actually pregnant!!!! I keep reminding myself that if the news is bad, then at least I have a ski vacation to look forward to in March. Not quite the same as a baby, but you gotta have something to look forward to right?

Hi everyone, this is my first post. Your posts are all so inspiring. I too am in my 2ww. It is actually is day 15 after my second iui. I am trying to stay optimistic but after two years of trying you get to know your body really well. I spotted tiny pink and very light brown on tp today and this often happens a few days before my period. It is very nerve wracking because I just had a hysteroscopy and thought maybe that would do the trick but... gotta keep my head up and pray for strenth and know that it will happen when the time is right- my pep talk :) Good luck to all of you.

HI chris- I can't believe it I am prego, I was losing hope since I had such bad cramps this whole week. The doctor said my numbers look great I have to go back again Monday for my second beta test. I said lots of prayers for you last night do you have good news? If not please don't give up i been trying for so long......

HI Trababy- I two have been trying almost 3 years, sept IVF failed....don't give up hope it will work. I am finally prego transferred 3 frozen embryos, just waitng now to see how many took .. And from what i read light pink and brown spotting is not a bad sign at all, it's red blood that's not good. when is your beta test? stay postive......good things will follow ....

I ALWAYS SAY IF YOU WANTED BAD ENOUGH YOU WILL GET IT NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES!!!! EVEN IF IT TAKES 10 TIMES......NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Jan,

geuss what, I also have good news. I too cannot believe it, I also go Monday for 2nd beta and 3 weeks an u/s. I feel bad for being so discouraged this month and for nothing......now a whole new set of worries. I am happy for you. Keep me up to date with next weeks #'s.

To all the others on the emotional 2ww, these were my symptoms.
-- had major cramps 2 days after my IUI, was told
this was the injectables still stimulating
-- on Monday had very little blood spotting and than
on Teusday had brown spotting, then it disappeared
(thought for sure AF was to start any minute)
-- I now have cramping or a strange ache- very minor, which I have had all week, I guess this is normal
all week

I wish all you the best of luck as it will happen !!!

Hi ivabies, Is a beta a bloodtest? My RE never mentioned anything about it- ever, she just says to call when I get my period. I did do a progesterone check a few days back but never heard anything with results, should I? Should I call to ask? I did take a hpt on day 11 which was negative. My period is usually around 35 days apart- I am not sure what that means when doing clomid and iui but I figure I would at least wait for that day to come- which is a good week or so still away. I can never lose hope because I will never lose desire. Good luck with your pregnancy- is this your first? How exciting! Thank you for your encouraging words.

lvabies - February 16

Hey chris,

Wow, see and you thought for sure it was over, you were not even going to go for your blood test, you have no idea how happy that makes me to hear you say you got a positive result. see good things happen. I will keep you updated I look forward to hearing your numbers to on MOnday!!! now just relax and enjoy the ride....

Hey trababy-

Yes a beta is a bloodtest. It gives you our progestrone level and HCG...If you took a progestrone check they should have called you with the results I would think. I never did and IUI so therfore things might be done differently. Did you tell them you had spotting? you said it has been 15 days...when do they want to see you only if you get your period? I guess IUI is diffrent. like you said don't give up hope I know there is a postive for you too.....we will keep it going?? and if not next time baby doll......I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.....

Hi All,

First post - I'm also in my 2 week wait now. Had first IUI done on Feb 10, same as you Sundance! Looks like we are in the same boat! Having mild cramping today and started to research it cuz I was worried and came across this forum. Everyone seems to be having the same sort of feelings - this 2 week wait feels like it will take forever, but in the end all I can do is hope that it will be worth it!

sundance007 - February 16

VTB - Welcome to the site and our forum. As you can see, 2 more BFP today...maybe this is a lucky place for lots of us! It's really exciting that you and I had our IUI on the same day. Now I have someone to compare signs and symptoms with who is on the exact same cycle. Estie is a couple of days ahead of us, so she'll be the next one with good news hopefully! :-)

I have been trying really hard not to analyze too much. I've done it so much in the past, only to be disappointed when AF comes. The other problem we have is that so many of the side effects of progesterone supplements mimic signs of pregnancy and/or PMS, so it's all a bit of a guessing game. That said, I have been having very mild cramping on and off since IUI. Unfortunately I've been experiencing some irregularity with my bowels, so can't really tell if the cramping is actually more in the intestines. Sorry if this is TMI, but does anybody know if irritable bowels are a side effect of progesterone???? Of course the sore bbs that we all seem to have, but no spotting. I've also had a headache since yesterday, but I do suffer from regular migraines, so it's hard to tell if this is anything out of the ordinary, or another possible sign. I'm very bloated, but again this could be intestinal! See what I mean about trying to psychoanalyze every little thing!!!! ;-)

Anyway, how long have you and DH been ttc? I'm assuming your beta test will be around the 24th? Keep posting and good luck. Maybe we'll both get good news the same day!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome Sundance. It is great to have a place to go where we can all share our stories. It gets to be difficult explaining this to ppl. who never have gone through it or have kids already and can't understand why I would go to any lengths to have one. This has been a dream for me forever, to be married to a wonderful man and start a family! When you are hit with the idea that things aren't going to go the way you plan them, reality starts to set in.
I know what you mean about trying not to analyze all the symptoms - but we all want this so bad, that of course every little thing lets us think, hey maybe this time it will be different for me. And yet again AF shows her ugly head!
I'm still having some minor twinges of crampiness in my belly. It feels the way I feel a few days prior to AF. Although I'm not due until the 24th....so we will see. Just wondering if it will start early this time - here I go again - I analyze everything as you do!
Me and DH have been trying to conceive for over a year. My doc told me to do a home test on the 25th if AF doesn't come and then schedule the beta on 26th. So pretty much one week down for us! Sprinkling lots of baby dust your way Sundance and to everyone else who is in the 2 week wait!

Hi VTB,
Congratulations on finding this site. This is my 2nd attempt at IVF. My last try was over Thanksgiving and it was just a difficult time on the 2WW. That is when I found this site and another one that I am very active on is fertilethoughts.com-where you will find a plethora of other women TTC. My beta (blood test) is on the 20th, so I am nearing the end of my 2WW. There is no doubt that this time frame is very challenging and sort of messes with your psyche! So, hang in there. You are definitely in the longest stretch. Once you hit the 20th (count down time), I hope it will get a little easier :)

It was so comforting to know that I could go home today and post true feelings to those who know what I am going through. My spotting is more so today so it looks like another failed attempt.
Jan, thank you for your responses, I hope all is going well with you. My Dr. never tells me to call on a certain date, just when I get my period. I called the office today and inquired about my blood test. I am waiting for the nurse to call back.
Sundance, I know how you feel with wanting a nice glass of wine. I too get all 'anal' thinking maybe, or that I shouldn't-even now that I am spotting what looks to be my period I question it. They say stress is worse, and if a glass of wine or two eases tension of it, than ... I think I will induldge. I hate that a part of me still hopes even with such tell-tale signs a big fat no (no symptoms/red wipes) Good luck and relax. I am thinking of all of you.
