Hi ladies. I had an appt with my OB on Tues and my blood pressure was elevated. Wed I saw the high risk doc and had an u/s. As usual, it was wonderful to see my babies but again, Hailey is much smaller than she should be. She was 1 lb 11 oz. Jayden was 2 lbs 2 oz (still small but in the normal range). Between Hailey's weight and again elevated bp and I'm still experiencing quite a bit of pain in my upper uterus, doc said all signs of pre-eclampsia. I'm not panicked since I know I'm being watched and I was sent for lots of b/w on Thurs. But I made Fri my last day of work so I can really try my best to care for myself and my babies. DH came home from the hospital yesterday after his (hopefully) last surgery and he is doing well. I had a tour of the family planning center at the hospital with my daughters today and now I'm just waiting. I'm so excited! Scared, yes, but again, I'll do whatever I have to to care for my babies and I know the docs won't let things get out of control. So I'm confident, saying my prayers and just excited for the time when they arrive. I'm 28.5 weeks so hoping they stay put for quite a bit longer. Lots of contractions every day but nothing regular so I'm ok with that too. Just wanted to post an update. How are you other ladies doing? Karen

Wow.. Karen.. lots for you to think about! But you are right.. you are being closely monitored and all will be well!

I hope DH is doing well after his surgery.. and as you said.. hope this is it for awhile!

I am also happy to hear that you are no longer working... so get lots of rest.. be good to yourself (and to Hailey and Jayden -- love those names by the way... how did you choose them?)

I was just in for my anatomy ultrasound last week.. so was so great see the baby in there.. I haven't felt any movement yet (am at 19 weeks now).. so was very relieved to see that all was well.. two hands, two feet.. beating heart... that's all I could wish for!!!

I chose not to know the sex of the baby.. although I don't think we could have found out even if we wanted to... the baby wasn't being very cooperative for the u/s (as usual)

Anyway.. exciting times.. I am finally starting to show and DH and I went shopping for some maternity cothes on the weekend (believe it or not.. his idea!!).. so I am finally starting to "feel" pregnant!!

Hope all is well with all the other ladies!
Great to hear from you Karen!!!

Hi Karen
I just completed my first IVF cycle and am in the 2ww. Your story is similar to mine. I am 39, was divorced for 10 years, 1 teenager and now remarried for 2 years and difficulty ttc. I was wondering if you could tell me if you did assisted hatching with your IVF and what were your embryo grades. I am trying to find some glimmer of hope for my case and you have certainly brought that to me since we are so similar. I am so happy for you! Twins..... that's great!!! :)

Baby4us, I'm so happy for you that everything is going fine. You are giving all of us hope! I'm in the middle of my 2nd IVF. Will do the retrieval at the end of this week. But until I have the transfer, I'm still cautious.... I'm afraid to be too optimistic and at the same time, I don't want to be negative.

Karen123, I love the names you have chosen for your twins. They'll be here soon! Hopefully just on time and not too early. All the best to you.

Nice to hear from all of you! And it's nice to hear that people like the names I've chosen. Most people like Hailey but aren't thrilled with Jayden. I don't know what it is about Jayden, I just love that name! It's somewhat different but not crazy or anything. :) Hailey is becoming quite popular but I've had that name stuck in my head since I started IVF (not sure why) so I'm going with it. To be honest I'm not even sure where I first heard Jayden but the minute I did, I knew that was the name I wanted if I had a son.

Baby4us, At 19 weeks, you're sure to feel some movement soon! I'm so excited for you since it's just incredible. And that is wonderful that your u/s went well. It's amazing how much relief an u/s gives us. I"m already anxious for my next one to see how Hailey is growing. Well day 1 off work is great. I haven't done much which is the plan and I'm loving it. I had a lot to do over the weekend and some stress due to the news of an Aunt that died and I had tons of contractions. I only had one all day today and I've been mostly resting so it makes me feel like i'm doing the right thing by being home.

Jacki, wow are stories really are similar! Yes, we did assisted hatching. You know, they never once mentioned anything about grades of the embyros to me. I did have 3 transferred. And if you aren't familiar with my whole story, I was advised not to continue (due to the cost all out of pocket) by one RE since I had only 3 mature follicles. He said I had a 10% chance of conceiving. Well with ANY chance, I wasn't giving up. And thank God I didn't! So when I hear stories of tons of follicles or eggs or embryos, I'm happy for the women but I'm proof that it's not all that matters. I guess out of 3 embryos, 2 were strong enough to make it and I'm just extremely lucky. So my message is, you just never know. And if it hadn't worked for me at least I would have known I did all I could. I'm thrilled it worked out of course but I think you know what I mean. If I had quit, I'd have wondered "what if" all my life. It was our only chance due to the $15,000 it cost. I have 2 girls starting college very soon so I coudln't keep going and ruin their chances in school. So again, we are very, very lucky. We did not need icsi but told them to do it if necessary. I don't know if assisted hatching made the difference but I know it was done.

Fiso, I wish you SO MUCH luck. I can't say enough how much I hope this works for you. You will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers. thanks again to all of you!

Good luck Fiso for the transfer at the end of the week..I am so excited for you.. how are you feeling I Know you said optimistic yet cautious.. which is probably a good way to feel...I have a good feeling about this one... so I hope to hear some good news after your 2ww!!!

Karen123.. sorry to hear about your aunt's passing.. my aunt passed away just before Christmas.. and I had started spotting and got all freaked out.. it is amazing how your body reacts under stressful situations.. so I hope you are doing better now. Enjoy your time off and I am sure both babies will be delivered on time and at a healthy weight!

Jacki... great advice from Karen.. obviously as she is very similar to you.. so good luck with your journey.. keep us posted!

Karen,

Glad to hear you are resting and that they are keeping a close eye on you three. I hope to be home soon too. My dr said by 30 weeks. I am 23 today. I feel lots of fetal movement, but no contractions. What do they feel like? I am not sure I would know if I had one...

Stay rested and drink lots of water.

Sue, the contractions feel like my uterus is squeezing the babies as hard as it could. The uterus feels very hard at that point and I won't say it's super painful but it isn't comfortable either. It kind of takes you by surprise. I think You'll know it when you feel it. I realized Sun night that I had a ton of contractions after I did a lot of grocery shopping and housework and Mon I rested most of the day and had only 1. So I think rest is crucial. That is so awesome that you feel the baby moving!!! Isn't it great? Now it's weird because body parts stick out. Especially my son's head. He sticks it so far out it hurts. I rub it all the time which may encourage him to stick it out some more! :) You see this tennis sized ball sticking out the side of my belly. It's just so weird! Karen

Karen,

Make sure you are drinking lots of water for the contractions. I had them too w/ my twins all of the time and also had them w/ this p/g. Actually the day of the scheduled c-section I was getting contractions every 15 to 20 minutes, so I probably would have had the baby on the 5th or close to it. I also started w/ all of my problems w/ the twins around the same time as you and was able to make it until 32 weeks.

Unfortunately, my Dr.s ignored some of my symptoms and I think had I been followed a little more closely I could have stretched the time a bit longer. I was even going to high risk Dr.s too !!!! I think I was having preterm labor at our hospital birthing class. We had to leave the class early I was in so much pain and crying. I didn't want to be monitored b/c we would have had to pay our copay !!! Pretty dumb on my part I know, and I would never ever do that again, but you know how hindsight is !!!! At least you are being monitored closely. Try to stay off your feet and rest on your left side to keep your blood pressure lower. It really does help. Please take care and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Meg
