multiple miscarriages

RoRo - September 30

Hi. Let me first say how grateful I am to have found this site. I am 36yrs old and have had 2 m/c. One at 7wks and the other at 19wks. This has been such a trying time for me and my husband.

The doctor's have run test and say nothing is wrong. How can that be? They want to put me on Lovenox and baby aspirin when I get pregnant again. I think I should be taking the aspirin now because with my first pregnancy there was no heart beat at my first visit.

As much as I want a child I am so afraid. I don't know if I can stand another loss. I no longer look forward to the day I found out I'm pregnant or the first doctor visit. I can't relax. I no longer see pregnancy as a joyful exciting time. All I know is fear, anxiety, and grief.

We are trying again and I may be pregnant right now. How do I get passed the fear??

I know right where you are coming from. I can't imagine going through a miscarriage more than once. I told you I will be 20 weeks tomorrow. It is such a shame but I have been so nervous that I haven't been able to enjoy this time that should be so happy. That was until Friday when I went in for my sono & they told me everything looked great. I am finally getting excited. I told myself in the beginning of this pregnancy that if anything happened this time I was not going to try again. I just can't imagine going through that again! Your strengnth to try again is to be commended!! Hang in there.

Has anyone had several m/cs and gone on to have a healthy baby? I saw an R.E for the first time yesterday and I was very excited about my appointment, I took all my medical records and as the Dr when over them it was like he basicly said I have had a alot of test done and there are a few more that can be done, which he did, but then he started talking about adoption, not having children, having another women carry the baby for me and all kind of stuff, I just froze up I had a list of questions but my heart was so hurt I could'nt even fix my mouth to ask!

I thought since I really don't have a problem getting pregnant, it would'nt be that hard, I can't seem to make it past 5-6 weeks!

If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it...Thanks all....Tiffany

PS: Or maybe any other test I should ask the RE about!

hsn2007 - October 7

I know one woman that had ten miscarriages and finally carried the eleventh so dont give up hope. Also what did your test say?

Tiffany F - October 7

hsn2007,

I have seen a Hemologist and had 15 viles of blood drawn, he checked for all kinds of factors, I had the dye test done it came back fine every test I take come back negative...I got the test results back from the RE's office yesterday and they were all negative, I think it was thyroid, glucose, and something else...I also had a m/c on Aug 18, this was the worst on EVER, I bled off and on up until like 3 days ago, even when the RE did my pap he said I was still spotting....The nurse called yesterday and said your still pregnant...I said WHAT, she said my beta was 28...so either I have'nt passed everything or got p/g again when my husband and I had sex like 2 weeks ago twice...I am so confused, Dr Jacobs said I probably have'nt passed all the placenta and will need to have a D&C!

The person you knew that had a baby after 10 m/c's was she ever diagnosed with anything? Thanks for letting me know there is hope...hope to hear back from you.....Tiffany

hsn2007 - October 8

Tiffany, no she was never diagnosed with anything being wrong with her or her husband. I have had five miscarriages myself since having my tubes reversed,so i know how u feel. I have had every test there is to be done and everything is normal. I have three kids that are grown now.I had my reversal in 1999 when my youngest was 11 and still no baby yet just five miscarriages,so i dont know what to tell you, just dont give up hope! shirlene

Tiffany F - October 8

Shirlene,

I see you understand what I am going through, it is so hard to continue to go through this, and not no WHY! there has to be a reason, I pray everytime I have blood work done that something comes back positive, and that's sad because usually when your having test and blood work done you hope and pray everything is negative! There has to be a reason our bodies will not allow us to carry our babies.

We just need to no the reason, and it sems as if it is hard as hell to find the reason, I have to go back to the RE tomorrow to make sure my beta is dropping, otherwise I will need to have a D&C! I don't look forward to that...and if my beta is going up, then I guess after I m/c August 19th I must have gotten p/g again, which is not a good thing because of my history!

Are you still trying to conceive? Or are you waiting to find out what's going on with you first? hope to hear from you soon.....Tiffany....take care

Miicki - October 9

Tiffany:
HI: i know what you are going thru. I have a 3 1/2 yr old daughter & have been trying the past 2 years. I have had 4 miscarriages under 10 weeks. One thing i highly suggest to anyone who's had a m/c is get the d & C. They put you under and you don't remember or feel anything. I had a D & C with my first and then the 2nd m/c came along-i decided just to wait and see if everything passed-well, 2 weeks later, it didn't. so i had to get one anyways. It's unfortunately the best way to start fresh & you don't have to worry about anything passing. Virtually no recovery-just taking it easy that day of the procedure. No pain-just some bleeding afterwards. 2 of the 4 we were able to test the remains after the D & C-everything came back normal too. I did about 15 blood samples too-again, everything normal---but yea, how could that be- 4 m/c later. Everything is normal. I think it comes down to my age. I'm 38 now. i was 34 with my first.
Oh the brighter side-i am 9 weeks pregnant. Heard the heart beat twice now- another dr appt next week & that will get me to the farthest i've been in the past 4 pregnancies. I did talk to 2 fertility specialists- they both suggested trying lovenox.. i am using lovenox 1 x per day 40 mg and a baby aspirin----so maybe i had some underlying blood clotting issue-no tests determined this but we decided to try it. Maybe talk to one other dr that you are comfortable with. I went to 2 and chose the place i liked the best. Since i carried one child to term that is the main reason why my obgyn wasn't so concerned-he said unfortunately the m/c were bad luck.
RoRo--I know the fear well & i still feel it every day---it's not that exciting yet---i want to get to the 12 week mark and i can get a little more comfortable. but not until this baby is here will i really feel good---it is too bad it has to be this way. But i would say keep trying & try to stay positive. I know it's hard believe me-it's heartbreaking. i hope it all works out for you.

billabong - February 11

Hi guys
This is my first time, I guess it helps to talk..... I feel terribly alone and empty, today I have just had a 3rd miscarriage within one year. Last two were at 10 weeks and this time it was seven weeks. God it is so terrible when it happens the 1st time, you think it won't happen again, then when it happens a 2nd time you are totally gutted and empty, but on the positive side you think 3rd time lucky, but no......

Back in Nov I went privately to a consultant and had loads of tests and checks, everything came back normal. As some of you have said in some respects it is great they are all fine, but on the other hand there is nothing really positive you can do differently. Oh god you think how many times can I go through this??? My trouble is I am 41 years old, so I don't have years on my side. There are so many tests out there it is confusing, is there one complete list of all the test available you can work your way through? Where do you go from here hey?

Good luck everyone, lets hope it gets easier for all of us. Signed Billabong (he is my long standing friend and baby, my horse!)

jyc - August 15

Have you asked your doctor about MTHFR which causes blood clots when your pg. You need to take folgard and baby asprin. When you get pg you might have to be on lovonx which is a blood thiner also. Talk w/ your doctor good luck and God Bless.

Hey eiregrl,

You are so welcome, If there is anything we can do or questions that need to be answered we are all here for you.

This website was truly GOD sent to me, Sometimes I would feel like know one understood what I was going through, and if you have never experienced a m/c you will never understand!

I as well have a very supportive family, my family sounds alot like yours not very showy with there emotions either, but everyone has been so wonderful since I have been on this rocky road of what is called fertility problems!

There is an excellent book that I read everyday called "Supernatural Childbirth" by Jackie Mize, it is wonderful you might want to look it up on the net.

Just wanted to let you know, I love school teachers, you all are my favorite people in the world ;)!

And that is so true, we are no longer defeated, we have to be positive and speak positive words to ourselves and our bodies.

Everyday I saw to my body that I will conceive and I will not have another m/c, and I also read scriptures everday from the book I spoke of before.

That is a blessing that you had no more tissue left, everything just passed naturally.

Thank God that you are going in and having the testing done, it is so much better to know then not to know, I have been tested for they same test you named as well as a host of other test, they always come back negative, which is usually what you want to hear from a Dr's office, but I was hoping to hear we found at least one test positive, that would have been the answer I have been looking for, because once you find out what's wrong it can be treated as long as it's not life threating!

I still don't no what is causing me to m/c everytime I conceive!

Therefore my Dr is assuming that I form blood clots in my placenta, she thought for sure I had anticardiolipin antibodies or APS, but I don't so we are still unsure, I even went to a Hematologist a few weeks and they took 15viles of blood, to my surprise once again all negative, I just pulled over my car and cryed like a baby.

But I'm keeping my head up and praying daily and I know it will work out.

My Dr also told me to wait for a complete full menstrual cycle to come before trying again also, It was taking so long that she gave me a prescription for Provera to induce and bring down my cycle and it worked, I got it 3 days after taking the last pill, I don't think we hit the target this month, we went to Las Vegas and were really busy, but we try next month!

Last but not least are you able to conceive natrually? I was asking because I am and that is a HUGE problem alot of women have and can you imagine not being able to conceive natrually going through IVF and other things and then to m/c would have to be even more devasting.

Sorry that I have talked so much, hope to hear from you soon.

Take Care, Tiffany

Have you been tested for MTHFR? This is blood clots that happen when you are pg. Its a lack of folic acid and b6,b12 along w/ baby asprin and lovnox when you get pg you should be ok. Ask your doctor. It took me 3m/c before we found out what is wrong. I understand what you mean about alot of prayer everyday I name it claim it and it will be in Gods time. God Bless and Good luck.jyc

I had three m/c's beofre my daughter she is 2 1/2 yrs old and prefect she actually tests at the age of a four year old she is very bright. She has no health problems it was a scarry and hard pregnancy and alot of bed rest but i had her, actually she did not want to come out. I was induced and had 20 hrs of labor to have a c-section. She was holding on for dear life in there. Everyone dont give up. When you have your angel you will appreciate it that much more i have went through fertility for all pregnancies and hard pregnancies but it is all worth it. I wam now 14 weeks pregnate and doing well its been a hard pregnancy i have a picc line and hypermesis but its getting better i had two more m/c's after my daughter making my total all 5 it never gets easy but if you have the support you get through it i wish i knew of this site during my dark times. The best advice i can give you is use this site as a vent if you need to. You will never see any of us and who cares if we think your crazy dont hold the darkness in we have all been there let us help each other through it. Also i wanted to add to some of your questions i have been going through the fertility battle off and on for five years they have never found anything wrong there is not medical reason why i m/c or have difficulties getting pregnante been through two different clinics and many tests and drs so dont get discuouraged they may never find a reason but even if there is no reason it can happen im profe of that, and so is my daughter and this pregnancy

I feel the total opposite then that on a dnc i have had 5 m/c all but one naturally and i only had that one cause the baby had passed and my body would not do it. I am a firm believer that if your body will do it let it cause waht alot of drs dont tell you is that everytime u get a dnc it raises your chances of scar tissue and the tearing of your uturus. which both of these make it hard to carry. Women have been having m/c way before dnc. i did alot of reserch the first time and denied a dnc and yes it hurt and took 2 weeks to do by it self but my body did what it needed to.

sandraB - February 20

hi there, I just had yet again my 5th miscarriage. Now all of my m/c all occur at the 5 week stage. It seem it is not able to attatch. In Nov , I had a laparoscopy done and found out I had Endometriosis and palupes, both were removed as well a DNC was performed. I recently missed my peroid and thought this would be the one!after taking 3 pregnancy tests and all coming up negative, a blood test determined a Hcg level of 61. That was very low and it only reached to 81 after 48 hours, needless to say I m/c and my ob did not have any answers for so I am being referred to a specialist in another city. Is there any hope for me because I am an emotional reck and cannot continue living this rollercoaster life? Has anyone else had m/c at 5 weeks always like myself?
SandraB
