Hi! I'm new to this board. I stumbled across it and it seems like a very supportive and educated site.
Last November, I had emergency surgery to repair the damage from an ectopic pregnancy that almost killed me.
My husband and I found out we were pregnant again mid July. Due to the ectopic I was considered high risk and was sent for both an ultrasound and hcg tests immediately.
Unfortunately the u/s showed nothing and I was told that I had miscarried. However a follow up with the doctor showed my hcg levels actually increased from 230 to 356 (not double but actually still increasing).
I have follow up blood tests coming but why would my levels be increasing. I was told it could be one of three things: 1) I did miscarry and the levels need to peak before dropping 2) It's another ectopic 3) I'm still pregnant and was just off on my dates
Any advice?
