Any success stories?

My husband and I have been trying naturally for 3 years and are now working with a fertility doctor. WE've had 4 failed IUIs and are starting IVF with a nurse consult in a few weeks. They say we have a great chance - a text book case - since its my husbands issue and I seem okay. We have no children and are 31 and 33. Any success stories? It seems everyone else here had their first or 2nd child already. :-\ I'm hopefull but at the sme time completely stressed out and effecting our marriage.

I would have sent an email but I am having problems with my Outlook right now.
We actually got our BFP 2 year and 2 months after we started trying. Due to the micro-deletion our Urologist and RE thought that IVF/ICSI would offer us the best and quickest solution. We made the decision to have IVF on the 21st of Feburary and I started Lupron on the 10th of March after we got back from a trip to Argentina (our last trip without children or least we hoped).
We found out on Monday we are having twins and we are just so excited we got to see the heartbeat and will be able to hear it on the 1st.

Keep me posted on the progress of your cycle I have my fingers crossed for a successful IUI.

Kris

[/quote]Hi there. i wondered what made you choose Argentina for treatment and how well you thought the Clinic treated you etc. I am in the UK aged 43, with FSH levels 9.9 and no success after 2 years, so Donor Egg treatment is our option. I have researched until my eyes will not stay open, and now just asking other couples for their advice. My email is [email protected] and would love to hear from you. Fingers crossed for you and all the other hopefulls, it sure is a stressful time, but keep smiling :)

Kris - May 18

I did not go to Argentina for treatment we just went for vacation I started my injections the day I got back. We actually had treatment in Texas and were are expecting twins after our first treatment. I wish I had more advice for you but our only hurdle was male factor. There is another message board ivfconnections.com that is very nice as well.

I have a success story!!!! My husband is the problem with a really low sperm count and abnormal. We did ICSI and the very first time we got pregnant. They transfered 2 embryos. One perfect one and one so-so one and here we are today with a beautiful, healthy 2 1/2 year old son. We tried a secon time and it did not work and now we are on our third. I am lying here right now with two embryos (transfered yesterday) waiting. Good Luck. It does work.

My husband and I tried for three years to have a baby without any success. I am a strong believer in diet and vitamins, and read everything I could about fertility. He knew that he had low sperm count and motility. He quit smoking marijuana, and began taking a lot of vitamins everyday. After the second year, we went to a fertility doctor. I have never smoked and don't drink caffine, and limited alchohol and I am very fertile, so we knew that the issues were 100% male factor. Many tests at our IVF clinic confirmed this. We had great fertilization and implanted two b grade blasts on day 5 at first they took then we found out we had a chemical pregnancy. We did a frozen cycle without any drugs in December and that ended in a chemical pregnancy as well. My husband and I were devistated. I am 33, and he is 37. We barely hung on to our marriage after discussing other options as we were told that with ICSI and my age that our success rate was close to 80%. In January I begged my husband to try one last thing, no alchohol. He loves to party and to drink ,and he would have never done it without knowing it was going to cost us another 20K to try IVF again with devastaing results. I made him take a lot of vitamins everyday including: vit C, E, B6+12, larganine, c-arganine, manganese, sellinium, zinc, and a very good multivitamin. We conceived NATURALLY in February of this year and we are almost 18 weeks pregnant. The doctors told us it would be impossible to conceive on our own, but we both believed that diet and vitamins and No alcohol, and no smoking would work and it did!!! My husband did not believe me when I showed him the test. His sperm count was 20 million per ml, and with about 30% montility. I am not sure how this little miracle happened, but it did and I would like to share my story with everyone who shared with me during those three years of agony. We are out of our minds excited for this little miracle who is strong and healthy and kicking already!!!! So dreams do come true, everyone has a different journey. My thoughts are with everyone who reads this, and prayers that we will all have the patience to deal with those roadblocks that we are given in life...God Bless...

DH and i have been trying for our #2 since august of 2002. we took a year off and i was a surrogate to twin girls. i have PCOS which wasnt diagnosed until july, and DH has 0% Type a motility and 0% normal morphology. this wasnt diagnosed until august, this diagnosis was a shock because a previous SA was normal >:(

my RE wants me to do iui with injectibles. but really, with those "odds" what are the chances of me successfully getting pregnant?

My husband and I tried for six and had been married going on ten. Just could not get pregnant. We did IVF for the first time and it was successful. We had three embryos transferred in and one implanted. I just heard the heartbeat yesterday and my duedate is June 22nd, 2007. Yes, it can work. This will be our first child. I will be praying for you. I recommend that you have more than one embryo transferred in. ;D

lee905 - November 8

Hey Kals..me & my husband have a similar situation. We got married in August of 05 & have been trying ever since..the first 6 months we just didn't use anything.. because I wanted to "just let it happen". Well then 6 of my friends became pregnant w/in that time (3 of them my bridesmaids who weren't even trying!) so I decided to buy an ovulation monitor & really start trying.. finally after the year mark my doctor referred us for testing. All the tests came back & it looks like we are dealing with male factor issues only. My hubby had two SA the first was 26 mil 33% mot 12 % normal morph... I thought that was bad until his second SA came back 12 mil 18 % morph.. I don't remember what the motility was. Anyway.. so now we have an apt w/ a reproductive doctor this coming Tues. I am going to see if we can try an IUI next cycle. DH can't see the urologist until Jan 4th. I am reeeally hoping we can try the IUI.. I guess I will have to wait & see! Oh & my sister just found out she is pregnant.... so yeah I would really like to get the ball rolling! I am soo sick of waiting!!!!

kals - November 13

Hi lee905,

Did you go to the doctor, what did he say? We are going to try our first iui,now iam on my 11 th day of menstual period, and using ovulation kit.

Hope every thing goes fine.

lee905 - November 14

Kals- I will keep my fingers crossed for you this cycle! Your count & motility seem like you will have a good chance. You will have to let me know what happens. What day do you "normally" ovulate?

Well... we went to the RE earlier today.. & he seemed to think that w/ DH's count we could expect to have around 6-8 mill motile post wash, which is more than I thought we would be working w/. I thought it would be like 2 mil.. but he also said to see good results w/ the IUI you generally want 10-15 mil post wash. So we decided we would try it anyway & see what happpens. Who knows maybe we will get lucky & his numbers will go up that day. We also decided to try it w/ no drugs (clomid), atleast this cycle. Maybe we will alternate. One cycle w/o & one w/? He said that you have to take the good w/ the bad w/ clomid. That it could potentially thin your uterine lining? Are you going to try w/ clomid? My period is due on the 17/18th so after that's done w/ we can start trying.. I am excited/overwelmed. How are you guys doing w/ all of this? It is so hard to know what to do. Anyway.. keep me updated w/ how you are doing & what's happening. I will be in your shoes next cycle!

kals - November 15

hi lee,

Today iam on my 13 th day of periods, idon tknow when i ovulate usually,i am queit new to this, till today i dont have signs of ovulating probably with in 2 days i may ovulate, I am on clomid 50 mg.

Dont worry i read in internet that minimum count for IUI is 5 million,so we have more than that,we have a chance.

Lets pray for both of us...

by the way where do you stay,in which place?

lee905 - November 16

Hi Kals- I will definately add you to my prayers! :) How are you doing today? Any sign of your surge?

I am wondering if maybe we should have tried it w/ clomid this time too. If it doesn't work I am going to ask to start that. Have you had any side effects from it? I am afraid it will make me moody!! But oh well, if it does, DH will just have to deal w/ it! ;) I am glad you told me that we would still have a chance w/ 5 million. That gives me some hope!

What kind of OPK kit are you using? What brand? I have a Clear Blue monitor, but the nurses were telling me that they actually DON'T recommend them!! :o They said that they ususally tell people to just get the middle of the line OPK kit. So I am going to go buy one of those. Also she said to use it in the afternoon (I have been doing it in the morning because I have a hard time holding my pee for 4 hours like they want you to!) I am really excited for you tho... you will probably be going in any day now! Too bad you have to wait another 2 weeks after that to know if it worked! The waiting really gets to me! :-[ Anyway.. I am in Tampa, FL. Where are you?

GS2allgirls - November 21

Tell me something ladies, as our male factor was a complete shock to us! Anyone have sucess with these issues...

First off let me say his count is awesome @ 221 million
OK, the bad stuff...

Progressive Motility Type A 0% rapid linear
Type B 11% slow or nonlinear
Type C 31% nonprogressive
Type D 58% immobile

Vitality 30% normal is 50% or more

Normal Morphology 0%

Please tell me someone has some advice! We found a clinic for IVF with ICSI but we cannot afford it. we would like to make our babies at home without a room full of people in scrubs. But with these sort of issues, is there any hope at all?
