Had 2nd egg retrieval yesterday---i only have 1 ovary, I'm 37; our 1st cycle 2mo. ago 4 out of 7 eggs retrieved fertilized, they did day 5blastocyst transfer of 2----- but they did not survive.
This cycle we again followed the antagon protocol, egg retrieval was yesterday afternoon; 6eggs retrieved---they ended up having 2administer morphine thru my iv in recovery----apparently I had lots of adhesions they had to maneuver the ovary more than usual 2sucessfully aspirate the follicles, especially near my bowels. Anyhow, I have been and continue to be in a lot of pain. They did give me 10 vicodin (wow-that hasn't touched it) and my mother has some leftover percocet 5's, so I've opted to not take the vicodin and, instead, take 1-2percs every 3hours + lay with a heating pad tied tight around my lower abdomen with a winter scarf.
I am just so concerned because the clinic does not seem to prepare you for this sort of pain; if nothing else, to allow the chance to take some time off from work----instead of 'calling in' sick! Uggh!! My husband and I are going to a very reputable fertility clinic (Shady Grove with Dr. Stephen Greenhouse) so I am assuming that this must be rare, otherwise, I obviously wouldn't be reaching out here ! :).
MY QUESTION IS: has anyone else had this type of negative experience with egg retrieval?? And if so, what did you find worked besides what I've already mentioned. Thank you ladies----- :)
