Dr. I would like to to know your opinion on keeping your patients on Metformin throughout pregnancy or taking them off of it??? I have PCO, I am 28 just had 19 eggs retrieved, and I am not overweight but I never ever have cycles, etc... I am currently taking 1500 metformin and I read some Dr's like you to stop after retrieval and some like you to stay on it, what is your opinion or what do you have your patients do? Thank you.

Also with PCO those 19 eggs that they retrieved are those normally new eggs or old follicles that will probably make me miscarry?

On ICSI do we have a higher risk for an abnormal child vs letting the best strongest sperm get to the egg on its own?

There is a growing body of evidence that metformin decreases the risk of gestational diabetes in women who are insulin resistant, and decreases the risk of miscarriage in women with polycystic ovaries. I ask my patients to remain on the product throughout pregnancy.
Good luck.
