Hi Dr. Jacobs
I am 33y.o. and underwent IVF with ICSI and had two 3day embryos transferred.
15 days after embryo transfer I had a BHCG level of approx 560units. 10days later, my BHCG level had risen to approx 14,500 units. Yesterday I was told that my BHCG has risen to 30,600 which is 6days after the last BHGC was taken and I am now technically finished 7weeks gestational age (5weeks fetal age).
What makes me confused is that for almost two weeks while the BHCG has been climbing, I have passed 4 significant size blood clots (larger than a strawberry) and have light old to fresh vaginal bleeding on a daily basis. Occaisional mild abdominal cramps, but no pain, no fever, and bouts of nausea continue to persist.
I am preparing myself for inevitable miscarriage despite the BHCG numbers, but any remote chance that taking supplemental estrace 2mg bid and prometrium 200mg pv tid can be a contributing factor to this vaginal bleeding?
(I know I need an ultrasound which is to happen next week.)

Bleeding in early pregnancy does not automatically mean miscarriage. You may well have a good pregnancy. Wait and see what the ultrasound shows.
