Ultrasound

Hi Dr Jacobs,

A couple of weeks ago I wrote in that my beta tests were close but not quite doubling in 48 hours. Since then the numbers continue to rise and are getting closer and closer to doubling every 48 hours. We also had an ultrasound done at 5.5 weeks which showed a gestational sac, yolk of normal size, fetal pole, and the heart beat was at a steady 115. Our Dr said everything looks normal and is of normal size and to come back in 2 1/2 weeks. My question is the last time you said that the hcg not doubling is not a good sign. How do you view the situation now?

thanks Sarah

The hCG determinations early in pregnancy are guides, but not definitive. The ultrasound, demonstrating a fetal heart and a fetal pole of the apprpriate size are much more reliable. Remember, there are still more hurdles to cross.
Good luck.
