Dear Dr. Jacobs,
First, thank you in advance for taking the the time to answer my question. A transvaginal ultrasound showed a small hydrosalpinx in my right tube that measured 1.8cm x 1cm. My left tube did not show any fluid which is consistent with the HSG results showing that tube to be patent and normal looking. My RE believes that I am a good canidate for tubal sugery to open up my right tube. However, I am afraid that it would increase my risk for a tubal pregnany since that tube is already damaged (assumed to be from adhesions from a previous adnexal surgery). My question is, what do you usually consider before deciding whether to remove a hydro tube or repair it?
Thank you for your help.

Your tube is damaged. Even if it were opened, it is damaged and there is the risk of a tubal pregnancy. Since your RE knows your tubes better than I, his/her judgement is better, in your circumstance. Although an effort to open the tube may be reasonable, I think IVF is safer. Good luck.
