Sperm wash with ICSI?

Hello - my husband and I did two failed IUI's - it seemed that his sperm counts were ok (actually a little low, motility lower than average too - but both still acceptable) for regular sperm analysis but then would have almost non-exsistent counts after the washes for the IUI - so we were refered to IVF with ICSI. I was wondering if they still do a sperm wash for that procedure or if it is handled differently. I worry that although i may produce many eggs what happens if they can only get a few sperm - if they do the washing.

Yes, it is necessary to do a sperm wash for ICSI. There are a number of different techniques for sperm wash, and one may be better than others for you. Also, the embryologist does not need as many sperm for ICSI as you do for an IUI.
Good luck.
