I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian SYndrome this past week. I am not your typical PCOS patient....no excessive facial hair....very low weight.....yet, ocassional acne flare ups. My Doctor, a GYN specializing in infertility has prescribed Provera....Glucophage....and Clomid. Is it necessary to take the Provera to start my period or will the other 2 meds do it? I am concerned with the affect Provera could have on a fetus.....how long does Provera stay in the system? What do you know about the combination of these 3 drugs?

Thanks!

Provera is not quite the same as natural estrogen, but it is very close. It should be gone within a week of your last pill. You will probably fair better seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist than your OB in your efforts to conceive.
Good luck.
