Hi Dr Jacobs,

I have to go in tomorrow morning to have an ovary sonogram done, I was told they are looking for cyst or fibroids before starting me on Clomid, but I was told I have to come in on days 2-3 of my menstral period? Why would they have to check while you are on your period? I flow extremly heavy and this just sounds kind of strange to me, can you please tell why this has to be done while your on your period.

Clomid commonly causes cysts. It is not a good idea to start Clomid if you already have a cyst. Since ovarian stimulation protocols should start on cycle day 3, that is the time to do the ultrasound.
