Dear Dr. Jacobs,
What hCG level do you consider "normal" or "solid" for day 12 post-3dt and indicative of a viable pregnancy?
Do you subscribe to the "double in 48 h" or the "increase by at least 60%" phylosophy when it comes to the hCG numbers?
Thanks so much!

There is an extremely wide range of normal for hCG. If it doubles in 48 hours, that is very reassuring. Good luck.

After a pregnancy loss, hCG levels return to the non-pregnant level over a period of time. The half life of hCG is about 36 hours. With a starting point of 221 Iu/L 36 hours later, it should be 110 Iu/L. In another 36 hours, it should be 55 Iu/L, and so on. After hCG is negative, your ovaries will start to function again, and you will resume cyclc flows.
