If there was no fertilization after successful ICSI, there is probably a problem with the sperm. A competant embryologist can certainly determine if fertilization took place. |

thanks for the reply...my RE said that sometimes fertilization occured early or late and was not seen at the 24 hr check? I am so confused! If the sperm looked okay during the analysis what else could be wrong with it? |

Semen analysis does not provide information about the genes or chromosomes of the sperm. Also, there are mechanisms by which the sperm chromosomes must "decondence" to pair with the egg chromosomes. |

Thanks so much! My RE just called and said no egg fertilized. So do you think it may be a DNA/chromosone issue?? He has never fathered children and with his prior wife they did not conceive after 8 yrs with no birth control. |

Donor sperm is a reasonable option. Not being a specialist in male fertility, I do not know if something can be done to improve his sperm function. Again, I send the men in our practice to Dr. Jeffrey Buch in Plano, Texas. |
