Hi- I'm wondering if you can tell me if this is normal.

My first Beta on 11/11 was 40. I was 13 days past retrieval and 9dp5dt on an IVf cycle.

Monday I went back (50hrs later) and it was 69.

Should they double every 48hrs???

You really do want to see the hormone leel at least double in 48 hours. In my practice, I check again after a second 48 hours.

thanks doctor. my levels were 71 on yesterday (48 hrs after the last beta). i was told to go off the progesterone & estrogen because this was not a viable pregnancy. why do women experience these chemical pregnancies?

There is no sure answer to your question. The best bet is that the pregnancy was normal to begin. Only about 1/3 of the eggs a woman makes are capable of a successful pregnancy. In addition, there are gene problems with sperm, which can lead to early loss. I hope you have better luck in the future.
