Dr. jacobs,
U have ansered some of my ?s before regarding hydrosalpinx etc (blocked tubes). I'm leaning towards IVF in the new yr, my ? to u is in reading several articles is it TRUE that it takes almost always 3 cycles of IVF to finally become pregnant? (this would be of coarse draining my tubes and closing them) to have the same % as a women without these symptoms?

IVF pregnancy rates vary from 1 program to another. They even vary from 1 year to another in the same program. Fortunately, we have gotten better over the last several years, thanks, in large part to the work of our embryologist. Currently, and for the last 3 1/2 years, we get a pregnancy about half the time we put 2 blastocysts (fresh or frozen) into the uterus. Please note that here is the occassional miscarriage, after documented pregnancy, so our ongoing pregnancy rate is closer to 35%.
