My wife's eggs sat for 7 hours before being fertilized with ICSI. As far as we know, the eggs and sperm were normal and healthy. However, the resulting embryos were not top grade, and we didn't achieve pregnancy. I'm wondering if there are any studies showing that such a delay before fertilization likely caused the lower quality embryos. We were using thawed donor sperm because I have a male infertility factor. Any advice from a medical professional or reference to a study concerning this issue would be greatly appreciated.
