hysteroscopy

I am having a hysteroscopy on Thurdsay to check my uterus b/f starting my next IVF cycle. I have a history of polyps and my lining has been thin since a D&C in November. My questions:

1. Can a hysteroscopy cause damage and can it delay ovulation?

2. If everything looks ok, I'm to begin Lupron a week after my LH surge. Is there any reason to wait due to the hysteroscopy?

3. Can a hysteroscopy see scars or polyps that a saline sonogram wouldn't reveal?

4. Is it common to have thin lining after a D&C (I had a mc, empty sac)? Will my lining ever recover?

Thanks.

Hysteroscopy is an operative procedure. There ias always some risk to surgery, but in the hands of a skilled operator, the risk associated with hysteroscopy is minimal. Since it is direct visualization of the uterine cavity, it does have some advantage over imaging studies. As far as endometrial thickness, that changes throughout the menstrual cycle. You RE will have to determine when you start your Lupron for your next cycle.
Good luck.
