Dr Jacobs,

It's me again, I had a miscarriage on August 18th it was the worst one ever, this was the 11th one!

Usually I bleed 7-9 days following a m/c, for some reason this time was horrible I bled off and on for a month and a half, I finally went to see an RE for the first time a few weeks ago.

I have had 4 or 5 beta test done, the 1st was 28, 2 days later it was 22, 3 days later 18, then a few days later 14, I went today and I get the results back tomorrow, my question is what is taking so long for these numbers to drop? and also can I be given some medicine for this problem? they have put off my taking the provera I assume until the numbers come down?

Any advice would be helpful as always...thanks....

The half life of hCG in your blood is approximately3 days. That is to say that it should drop by roughly 50% in 3 days. If it does not fall at that rate, you may have some retianed fragments of early placenta. If that is the case, that tissueshould be removed.
Good luck.
