Dear Jacobs,

I have a quick question. My husband got blockage, last IVF we took the sperm from his PESA. We got frozen sperm left from last time. I am doing the 2nd IVF now. I am thinking to do the PESA to take out the fresh sperm on the date before the egg collection or I should use the frozen sperm, since my last IVF did not success.

Are there any things different between use Fresh sperm or Frozen sperm in IVF?
I should collect the sperm on the same date of egg collection or a date before the egg collection?

Thanks a lot.

We typically use the frozen specimen. It is easier than to try to co-ordinate 2 procedures on the same day. It does not seem to matter.
Good luck.

Thanks Dr. Jacobs,

May I ask what procedures you may need to do with the fresh sperms? If I do it in the day before egg collection is it better?

Thanks!

I do not extract the sperm, myself. I collaborate with someone subspecialty traineds in male fertility issues. He obtains the sperm and freezes them until they are needed.
