Crinone 8% gel

Hi Dr. Jacobs-
I am part of an IVF drug study at my clinic, and this is my first time using Crinone 8% gel. We are using it only one time daily, starting the day after retrieval. Everyone has a day three transfer with a follow up progesterone level three days after the transfer. What range is normal? I read somewhere that it tends to concentrate so well in the uterus that it can commonly lead to low serum levels.

Thanks,
Lindsay

Actually, vaginal administration of progesterone is not likely to produce a high serum level of the hormone. It does produce a good tissue level in the endometrium, where you want it. I cannot tell you what level to expect in your blood.
Good luck.

Should I be encouraged if my progesterone level was 130?
Thanks,
Lindsay

Anything over 20 ng/ml is fine.
