Hi, Dr. Jacobs....
I have been on birth control for a lot of years and just had my first period on my own since getting off the pill. It has been so long, I was just wondering if it is normal to experience mild cramping for a few hours the first day of a cycle?

Menstrual cramping is very common. I cannot assure you that you do not have a problem as a cause, but I have no reason to suspect a problem.
