Hello Dr. Jacobs,

I recently asked for a copy of my medical records from an appendectomy that I had about 18 years ago because I was diagnosed with a right hydrosalpinx this past summer (left tube looked normal and open on HSG). In my records, the surgeon said he also cauterized a ruptured ovarian cyst on my right ovary. Could the cauterization also be a risk factor for damaging my tube and forming a hydrosalpinx since the ovary is so close to the fallopian tube?

Thank you.

I have no way of knowing if the cautery of your ovarian cyst damaged your tube. Actually, your appendicitis may have done the damage.
Good luck.
