Dr. Jacobs....
I am 7w6d pregnant and had a pelvic exam today. The doctor saw blood around my cervix. She described them kind of as tiny clots. She said my cervix was closed. I had an ultrasound and we saw the baby and the heartbeat with a heart rate of 154bpm! She said the ultrasound looked good. She also did a urinalysis that came back as a urinary tract infection and put me on azithromycin. This is my 2nd uti in a row. I have never had any spotting on my underclothes....just some tan to brown mucus when I go to the bathroom. When it is ther it is just a little and when i wipe a second time it isn't there. Can it be "normal" to have blood around your cervix? If so what could it be?

You rquestion is better directed to someone who does OB, but I can tell you that it is not uncommon to have some bleeding during a perfectly normal pregnancy.
