baby's sex and average # of chances

:-\ Can you chose the sex of the baby? or can they tell you the sex of the baby right away? what are the average number of chances a couple has to go through before IVF works? My husband and I were "very fertile murtles" before my tubes were tied, could that increase our chances?

The only truly reliable way to determine the gender of the embryo is to remove a cell and evaluate chromosomes. I do not know many programs which do gender selection. The success rates of IVF are clinic specific. There are no current data available, except from the individual clinics, themselves. The data published by the CDC are 3 years old.
