As a 43 year old women who is starting her first IVF with ICSI cycle; is there a benefit to using 2 day old Embryos or is it better to use Blastocysts and why? Thank you.

WE typically transfer 2 blastocysts. On day 2 or 3 embryos that look good may not be. Genes from the sperm do not start playing a role in embryo growth or developement until day 3. About haalf of the day 3 embrytos become blastocysts. We cannot tel by looking at day 3 embryos which ones will continue to grow. If we only have 2 o0r 3 embryos on day 3, we transfer them on day 3, because it makes no sence to us to wait to see if one is not as goos as the other. We belief your uterus is a better incubator than the one we have in the lab.
Good luck.
