TTC after Coumadin

Hi all, just to introduce myself real quick - my name is Mary and I have had two pregnancies, one which ended with a healthy baby boy and another that ended this past November at 36 weeks with a stillbirth (due to the baby having a defect). With my stillborn I had a c-section, and as a result I had two tiny PE and am currently being treated with Coumadin until May. A hematologist concluded that I don't have any clotting disorders and that the clots were the result of surgery, so I don't need to be on Coumadin for life unless I would happen to get another clot. Even though I've had two long pregnancies with no incidences of blood clots, my OB wants me to be on Lovenox during the last two trimesters of any subsequent pregnancy.

Anyway, the main question I have is this - how long after stopping Coumadin do you need to wait to TTC? My OB says one thing, my PCP says another, and I have an appt. with a high-risk OB Monday so I guess I'll see what he says. But I just wanted to get a consensus of how long women are normally told to wait. Any replies will be greatly appreciated, I am very eager to TTC ASAP.

Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary!

I stopped my coumadin (I am on for life) about 2 weeks before I started to TTC. Now I do the Lovenox injections daily-40mg. I have mthfr gene mutation. I had a blood clot in my leg and a PE, both from recovering from surgery. I would discuss this with your hematologist.

I should be going for my IUI some time this week. Looking foward to my future journey as we don't have any children and I have never been pg. Good luck to you!
