Thanks everyone for your responses. I feel better knowing that its common. I was scared to change medicines when the lovenox has been working so well. But my doctor said the heparin has a shorter half life and I have to have a C Section...So I guess thats the reason for the switch. And the heparin was only about $18 for all of it that I need, so that was a relief.

I'm on lovenox 2x a day and will not be switching over to heparin until the day before my c-section. I wonder why all of y'all are switching over so early????

spoorkimberly - February 13th, 2008 5:10 PM

I am getting switched over to Heprin at 36 weeks incase I go into labor early. My 1st child I went into labor at 38 weeks. They would like me off all shots 12-24 hours before I give birth (Vaginal). Last time I was still on the shots and could not have an epidural. I was supposed to be induced but my little guy decided to come early.

Appointment today went well. Just under 9 weeks and things look like they are supposed to. Last few days have been very rough because my wife says she now feels "normal" and we took that as a sign that she lost the baby. Ultrasound proved otherwise so she will continue to take the vitamins, folic acid. baby aspirin and Lovenox. Next appointment is Thursday the 21st. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

KJB, I'm glad everything went well. I can understand your wife's feeling when she felt "normal". I am kinda the same way. When everyone doesn't like to feel nauseous during pregnancy, I was very happy to feel a little nauseous this morning. But it's not that much ( i don't know if I should be happy or worry). But, as long as I don't see any spotting, I am keeping my hopes up. I am going to see perinatologist tomorrow. I am hoping that I will have an ultrasound just to see if the baby is still there.

Congrats bdantonio!! I am so happy for you.

KJB1028 - February 16th, 2008 5:32 PM

Thanks for the kind words Eileens. Unfortunately, in the last hour after she woke up for a nap and went to the bathroom, she had some fresh blood. No more bleeding since and she has gone to the bathroom twice more. Probably not a very good sign with her history. Waiting on her Doctor to call back but with it being Saturday afternoon and there is nothing they can do if it is a MC, we will probably just have to wait until Monday morning.

KJB1028 - February 18th, 2008 12:18 PM

Just got back from the doctor. Everything appears to be fine. There is a small pocket of blood outside the womb but doctor said that is not too uncommon. Heartbeat was good and it has grown like it should have in the last few days. Pretty big scare for sure but we made it another day.. Just thought I would update.

rebecca123 - February 18th, 2008 12:21 PM

That is really great news, KJB! :D

bdantonio - February 19th, 2008 8:02 AM

thanx... Im soo happy my journey is over.... Im healing very good from both my c-section and tubal.

eileens - February 20th, 2008 10:52 PM

KJB, I'm so glad everything was fine. I would be terrified too. I had a u/s last Friday and for the first time I can see an embryo attached to the yolk sac and they said that there's a heartbeat. my dh and I were so happy. It's still very early in the pregnancy but at least it's an improvement from last 2 m/c we had. I am just a little worried since my pg should be 7 weeks calculating from LMP, but the u/s technician said according to the machine, it should only be 5.5 weeks. Has anybody encountered this problem before? I wonder if it's normal. My ob said it's ok but i'm still not sure. I am due to come back to see the perinatologist in 2 weeks. So we'll see from there.

i havent been on here in a awhile!

bdantonio~congrats! im so glad everything is over with for you and you have your baby girl!

kjb & eileens~ congrats on your pregnancies and i wish you the best of luck! i totally suggest buying or renting a fetal heart rate monitor at 10-12 weeks. i have one ive been using since 13 weeks and i can not tell you the peace of mind it gives me to listen to my baby's heart beat everyday.

as for me ill be 20 weeks tomorrow, how time has flown by! shots seem to be doing the trick and im so grateful for it. everything seems to be going smoothly with the pregnancy except my weight! in the last month ive gained 13lbs, most it in the last 2 weeks! making a total gain of 20lbs! ive started working out again this week with walking on the treadmill and doing a pregnancy yoga dvd so hopefully this helps. i lost 76lbs prior to getting pregnant and i really dont want to put it all back on!

CLADesigns - February 21st, 2008 10:49 AM

Congrats Veroki. I was wondering how you were doing since you haven't been on in awhile. I am glad that all is well with you. I wouldn't worry too much about your weight. As long as your doctor isn't worried than you shouldn't be. Good luck to you.

KJB & Eileens--Good luck with your journey's. Let us know how it goes.

KJB1028 - February 21st, 2008 10:14 PM

Another appointment today (approx. 10 weeks) and things are looking good. Little thing was even dancing around and waving while the doctor was doing the scan. Pocket of blood near the uterus also has gone away so that is good thing too. After 4 M/C in a row it is hard to stay positive but the good news is this is the furthest we have been. Crossing my fingers every second of everyday that this time it will work. Thanks for the kind words from everybody and I will add updates as they occur.

??? ???
I had a very normal pregnancy 5 years ago. I recently experienced 2 miscarriages and am currently 5 weeks pregnant. My OB wants me to start Lovenox. Can anyone tell me if there have been any studies done on the long term effects of this drug. I get it that it works to get you thru the pregnancy, but what about future complications for myself or my child. I have to think about the son that I currently have. Is this drug worth the risk??? Do we really believe it doesn't cross the placental barrier?? Any information anyone has would certainly be appreciated!!

I havent been on in a while I am glad things seems to good for most...Just a little update...I have been going to the dr. and and I went 2 weeks ago and the baby measured 35 weeks when I was only supposed to be 32...I am not sure what is going on they may have my due date wrong which would mean they will want to induce in 3 weeks, i am nervous has this happened to anyone else?

ZAKBNEL~ My dr. is not even putting me on heprin they just want me to stop the shots the day before they induce and go back on them the next day, so they all do things a little different but it depends on the the patient the most, dont worry just talk to your dr.

JBENJAMIN~ I am not sure about in of the long term side effects, but i would love to know if you find anything...I am also going to do a little research myself, and talk to my dr. more, even though I have been on the shots my entire pregnancy, I do know that to me It is important that I carry my baby as long as possible and have a healthy baby...Good Luck

KJB~ I hope you continue to have good news for us, and things go good for you and your wife

VEROKI~ I am glad you are doing so well, Congrats

BDANTONIO~ Congrats! I am so glad your miracle is finally here
