Veroki here is a link that I thought may be helpful for you. http://www.greenjournal.org/cgi/c
ontent/abstract/99/2/333

I
am sorry for what you have been through. I have also had two miscarriages one at 12 weeks and second at 6 weeks because of blood clotting. I switched doctors after the first doctor acted like a jerk. I went to a high risk pregnancy specialist (he deals with recurrent miscarriages) and he has been wonderful. I suggest you take your results to a hematologist and he will tell you exactly what you need to do when pregnant again.....and definitely find a new ob/gyn.

aefthimiadis,

thanks for the link, i read it but it all seems "greek" to me, ya know what i mean? like i wonder if because im overweight this happend? or if its hereditary? you are soo right about getting a new doctor, im gonna call around tomorrow and see about getting in for an appointment with a new one. first ill look for a hematologist and then ill look for a maternal fetal specialist or a high risk doctor too. god this whole thing has been a nightmare and i cant wait to have a doctor who "there" for me.

aefthimiadis - January 31st, 2007 9:30 PM

Is it that obvious that I am Greek....hahahahha.....it is most likely a genetic factor. I don't think it has anything to do with weight....let me know how everything goes with the hematologist....that is the first person I saw when I was diagnosed. Many women that I know go on to have healthy babies with lovenox and baby aspirin.

Veroki:

Are you hetero or homo?

aefthimiadis - January 31st, 2007 9:42 PM

I meant to the blood clotting disorder...don't know how that came out. If you are heterozygous that means you inherited it and it is genetic if homozyneous then it came from within you for some other reason

veroki - February 1st, 2007 9:20 AM

lol! you crack me up! i didnt know you were greek but the name should have clued me in! lol! im "hetero"zygous (chuckles) so that means i inherited it huh? well that kinda makes me feel better then. i would feel awful if my weight problem was the cause and i did this to me baby. :( im calling a hematologist today and im gonna try to get in as soon as possible, do they typically run their own bloot test too?

Veronica:
I would make sure i know when she is in the office & just go in w/out an appt. tell her you want all your results rad to you & copies of everything so you can take to another dr. Don't leave until you get all your paperwork b/c trying to get it faxed later could be a pain. Tell her you are going to someone else too. I know it would suck to have to do all this b/c of what you recently went thru- but i would not let this dr off the hook easily at all. You can tell the office when you arrive that you will cause a scene if you don't get to see her - but i'd just find out when she's in & go in---

I am so upset for you & i can believe the insensitivity of this DR... My Dr has been unbelivably great for me & i've seen him for almost 20 yrs...

Keep us posted on what happens--- we'll be thinking of you.

Miicki - February 1st, 2007 10:52 AM

I missed this last page--- sorry Veronica. I"m glad you got your paperwork--- but still go in & talk to that DR- make her feel like crap for what she did & how she left the message....

miicki,

thanks for the response. im just so done with her, glad i got my records and now im just looking for someone else to help me. i made an appointment with a hematologist for monday so maybe he can explain whats going on a little bit more for me. im also trying to look for a new OB i have a friend who just had a baby and she loved hers so im going to try to get the number from her so i can get an appointment. so frustrating thats all i can say. and there seems to be little information out there about the PAI-1 5g/4g thing. alot of whats coming up in my searches is all about coronary artery disease. so im still wondering if my obesity has anything to do with this. :(

veroki - February 1st, 2007 1:04 PM

ok so the wench finally called me back!!! i was curt with her and only asked if it was inherited or if it was caused by my weight and she said my weight had nothing to do with it and that i was inherited so that kinda puts my mind to rest. but im still looking for a new OB for sure. so i wonder which parent i got it from? no one in my family has had pregnancy losses. ive only ever heard of one from my dad's mothers sister (great aunt) her first pregnancy was a still birth and then she went on to have 1 daughter. im so curious now...... should my siblings get tested now too? any of you have family effected by the same thing?

veroki - February 1st, 2007 1:21 PM

oh and another things she said is that i cant be on oral birth control anymore, she said the only thing i could do is the shot or an IUD? anybody?

aefthimiadis - February 1st, 2007 4:23 PM

veroki...no birth control because it may increase your chance of getting a blood clot. a hematologist usually will read the records you already have and will only perform anything else he wants to check out to make sure there is nothing else he needs to check for. I am also hetero and nobody in my family has been through any of this. My hematologist did not think it was necessary for family to be tested since nobody has had any symptoms.

aefthimiadis,

thanks for the answers. no BC? its just crazy what do you do in between pregnancies? maybe im just thinking to far in advance. im not on BC now cause i didnt want it in my system to cause any problems for when we ttc so its a good thing i didnt get back on it. it does scare me a little though cause we dont want to ttc till this summer, so for the next 6 months i dont want to "accidentally" get pg. im still getting over my loss ya know. i guess ill just have to be super careful.

oh when i talked to my mom today she did tell me her cousin from her mothers side had like 8 miscarriages and only 1 successful pregnancy, so maybe it came from her side...... im just so curious now.

aefthimiadis - February 1st, 2007 7:12 PM

veroki.......you have to think of another way to protect yourself. You definitely need time after going what you went through...not just mentally but physically also. There you go you got to love genetics....hahahhaha

GRETEL - February 1st, 2007 8:08 PM

I HAVE A QUESTION, I AM 11 WEEKS PREGNANT AND AFTER MY LAST PREGNANCY I HAD A BLOOD CLOT IN MY PELVIC AND DURING THE PREGNANCY I KEPT TELLING THEM THAT MY LEG WAS GIVING OUT AND I WAS FALLING DOWN THEY DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING THEN 1 1/2 WEEKS AFTER THE BABY WAS BORN I HAD A DREADFUL ACHE IN MY LEG WENT INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR A WEEK FOR THE CLOT AND WAS ON COUMADIN FOR 6 MONTHS. THEY SAID NOT TO GET PREGNANT AGAIN WELL OOPS! AND ANYWAYS THEY SENT ME TO A HIGH RISK DOCTOR FOR THE PRECAUTION NOT TO MENTION MY NAUSEA AND VOMITING IS INSANELY BAD. THEY PUT ME ON LOVENOX 40MG A DAY, VITAMIN B6, OSCAL, FLINSTONE VITAMINS WITH IRON AND UNISOM TO HELP ME SLEEP. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT ALL THAT STUFF.IS IT OK TO BE TAKING ALL THAT . ALSO I'VE BEEN GIVING MYSELF THE LOVENOX SHOTS AND I HAD A BAD HEADACHE AND TOOK A TYLENOL ABOUT 1 1/2 HOURS BEFORE THE SHOT SO I WHEN I TOOK THE SHOT IT HURT LIKE USUAL BUT WHEN I PULLED THE NEEDLE OUT IT BLED. WHAT CAUSED THAT? ANSWERS PLEASE!

veroki - February 1st, 2007 10:53 PM

aefthimiadis,

i hear what your saying , i guess i just dont trust those other ways but im gonna have to learn to. well i have to say the overall feeling is relief that i know what happend and that i can finally close this chapter in my life, ill never forget it either, but at least i can try to accept it and look to the future. my first step is to work on myself and my health, i could stand to lose 90lbs and thats what im planning on doing and then maybe after that we'll see about ttc. thanks for all your help! ill check in again when i meet with the hematologist and get some more info.

Veronica
