Ashley,
Thanks for responding back. Well I will try again and get pregnant as soon as I get my second af and then I start trying again. I hope that I have better luck this time and have a healthy baby. I don't understand why the m/c happens but once I had mine I notice that alot of firls are getting that. I hope that they can find out why are the causes and find somthing to prevent it soon.

Jolene,
Maybe you should ask your dr whether heparin is an option. With my first pregnancy on blood thinners they put me on heparin, saying that the other option, which I now assume to be lovenox, was so expensive that the insurance may or may not cover it. I didn't have any problems with the insurance company and had a very minimal copay for the heparin. The only difference for me was that the heparin comes in separate vials and I had to load the needles myself and do the shots twice a day, as opposed to the premeasured siringes that I now take once a day for lovenox.

Thank you, it is nice to know that there is support on issues like this. I hope things work out for you as well.

Daisy

Thanks for the advice, I will mention it to the Dr. I have my ultrasound on Friday. I wonder why the cost is so high to begin with? I called my insurance company today and they informed me that injections are not covered under the Rx plan. They gave me a number for a mail order, this may be a little cheaper. I will look into the heparin.
Thanks again.

Jolene:

I cannot believe how expensive the lovenox is for you-i wonder if there is a way to add that option to your insurance- maybe not since you are already pregnant-
i am very, very lucky- my co-pay is 15/month & that's it for my 30 day supply. I do one injection a day.
$1500 seems ridiculous- how can it be that expensive?
maybe take the other person's suggestion & see if Heparin is an option & see how much it is w/out insurance.
Good luck!!!!!

Oh- on another note- i have my big ultrasound tomorrow. i'm a little over 19 weeks. I had my triple screening tests & they came back fine. Although the Dr that called me w/the results told me one part of the test came back high ( neural tube defect) i'm like great. so i go back in & redo the tests & i asked to see my regular Dr to go thru the results. He said the one portion was mildly high b/c the hospital they use goes off a different set of numbers- way to scare me for a couple days. So my score was more than normal.. Whew.... It's always one thing to worry about... so this last ultrasound should give me pretty much all the final info i need- i am still leaning towards not getting an amnio b/c i do not want the added risk...
so wish me luck tomorrow... thanks

Wow I had no idea that medications could cost so much!! My husband is in the military so all of our medical is free on co pays or anything. But the trade off is that he is almost never home and he will even miss the birth of our baby. I hope you start the meds soon I went on them the day I found out I was pg. Oh and good luck on your u/s.

Jolene,
When I read your post I went to my prescription insurance website to see how much it was going to cost me. It said that it would cost me around 1500 a month at a retail pharmacy BUT only 200.00 for a 90 day supply if I use the mail order service. The mail order service is only for chronic conditions but since we will be on this medicine for about a year, I assume it will count. You should definitely check if your insurance offers a mail order option!

I am new to the site. I will be 7 weeks pregnant on Thursday and have been on Lovenox since 4 weeks. I had two consecutive miscarriages in the past 2 years.

My ob prescribed Lovenox as soon as I found out I was pregnant. The injections burn a little bit but I hope it is worth it in the long run.

I have to prep myself mentally everytime I must give them.

I am going to have my first sonogram next week and hope that we see a heartbeat.

Lili,

Lots of women have spotting when they are pregnant. I am currently 7 1/2 weeks prego. I have had 2 previous miscarriages and in both the blood started as a brownish discarge. This time it started has very very very light pink, and it was off and on last week. I think it is normal, because it has gone away, whereas with the other miscarriages it just got worse. My younger sister has 2 kids and she did the same with both so who knows, all I am for sure of is there are no clots/tissue, so I am in the clear for now!!! One day at a time!!! Hang in there.

lili246 - December 20th, 2006 12:02 PM

mrspfunk,

Thank you for your response. In my case it wasn't normal because I was having that dishcarge for a month and when I went to the doctor she told me that it was normal, but 2 weeks later when I had an ultrasound they confirm that the baby was not alive because there wasn't a heartbeat. It was so painful and hope that noone else goes through this. Later that day the doctor told me that maybe the dischagre was a sign of somthing going bad. But I guess that every women is different I heard that some women get their period while pregnant so who knows everyone is different.
I hope that everything goes well with your pregnancy and enjoy your pregnancy it's something wonderful. So this is going to be your first child? I am happy for you and your dh. Congrats and take good care of yourself.

Love Lili

Hi girls,
There are defiantly lots of normal things that cause bleeding like implantation bleeding. You can also bleed after a vaginal ultrasound. My dr told me that the most common cause of first trimester bleeding is SEX. It won’t cause a miscarriage. If I ever bleed while pregnant and it is a weekend or after hours I just go to the emergency room. They will do an ultrasound and if your cervix is closed that is a great sign. My dr goes to my church and was my dr threw my last two miscarriages he knows how much I worry so gives me an ultrasound once a week so far just to ease my mind. I am leaving on a month long vacation tomorrow and I think I will have withdraws. Four weeks with no ultrasounds just might kill me. I just want to speed up time and get out of the first trimester. Good luck to everyone.

This is for the person a few pages back that had mentioned the high cost of Lovenox and the insurance coverage; I had the same problem with the cost and my husband and I found out you can go directly through the manufacturer and be fully covered. Your annual income has to be under a certain amount. If you go to "needymeds.com" you can print out an application for patient reinburment. If you qualify your medication will be sent to you Dr's. office immediatly (months supply). Iv'e been on the program for about 4 1/2 months now with no medication payments. It's been alot a stress lifted, considering this pregnancy wasn't planned; but is a wonderful blessing.

Good luck and God bless!! Keep me posted on wether or not my info was useful.

I am so happy there are programs out there to help with cost. When my husband and I had our second child we were still in college and making a combine income of $16,000 a year. We didn’t know about my blood problem yet and had only had one miscarriage at the time. If I needed the medicine back then I defiantly would have need assistance.
I am having one last ultrasound today before we leave on vacation today. Seeing the baby always gives me piece of mind. I wish I could barrow tom cruise’s ultrasound machine!
