:)

I agree. With my last pregnancy, I had to have a cerclage at 24 weeks - WELL after I started the Lovenox. When I went in for the surgery they forgot to tell me to stop the lovenox for 24 hours before the surgery, so I stayed overnight and they did it the next day. I had an epidural while they completed the procedure, and even went home that night. When I hit 28 - 30 weeks, I hit more complications, and in case I had to have an emergency c-section, they switched me to heparin - which I stayed on for the duration of my pregnancy. BUT there are defintely options. I had an epidural for my c-section as well...

I wish you luck!

Take care,

Chanille

Hi.
I just miscarried my second baby in 8 months. My doctor said next time I'm pregnant he will put me on lovenox (We'll start TTC in March). I don't really know anything about it except what I have read on these posts. Does anyone know if you can breastfeed while on it? I will know more about my doctor's plans at my two week checkup, but I was just trying to learn about lovenox and how it has worked for people.
Thanks,
Ashley

For those of you using the fat of the upper under arm I would suggest leaning up against the edge of a doorway and using the door to help pinch up the skin. That way you don't have to rely on someone else to give you the shot you can do it yourself (with some coordination)

"My dr. said I will have to be induced 1 to 2 weeks early because if you have a clotting problem there is an increased risk of still birth. "

I think Julia posted this and this is the first I've heard of this. At the begining the perinatologist told me that they may induce me a week or two early depending on how things go but that hopefully I can go into labor naturally. Now I'm very concerned about a stillbirth. I'm definatly going to ask my doctor about this at my next visit but I wanted to check and see how many of you have been told this. I've noticed that a lot of us have been told different things and I realize that a lot of it is different doctoring styles and training but it kind of scares me how different things are sometimes. Like for example mrspfunk being told that she would be on Lovenox until delivery. I too will be switched to Heparin three times a day at 36 weeks. I wasn't told that I could not have an epidural but was told that the risk was much higher and thus concluded that it probaly wouldn't be worth the risk.

I guess to make what could be a very long post shorter. I think that it is great that we can all share and compare what we have been told by our doctors on this forum. We are after all in control of our own healthcare and need to be proactive for ourselves. Doctors are there to answer questions and are usually pretty good at explaining the concerns that we bring to them. My doctors are good and I'm confident in their abilities, but I also realize that they are human and that I'm not their only patient. Therefore I go to every appointment with a list of questions/concerns to bring to there attention--just in case they haven't thought about it.

Hi ladies,
Well I am going to the dr today. On Monday when I went in my dr said that the heartbeat was slow (86) she told me it is probably an early sign of miscarriage. Thank God I happen to have a friend that is an ob so I went to him right after and he did his own ultrasound and said he thought the heart beat looked fine (140). I wasn’t supposed to have another appointment until Monday but decided I couldn’t go the whole weekend without having the heartbeat checked again. Also I am 7w and still having light cramping. I don’t really remember much about my healthy pregnancies only the ones that have ended in miscarriage. So is anyone else having any cramping?

Ashley,
With my first baby, I was told that it was ok to breastfeed while on the heparin. I assume that the lovenox is the same. Has anyone heard anything different?

Daisy

JuliaC,
I was pregnant a few months ago and had some cramping and some brown discharge it ended up in a m/c. I hope that everything goes well. I didn't m.c on my own. I had a d & c done. When I had an ultrasound done they didn't see a heartbeat and dr. told me that I had m/c and the baby was not alive. So I had the surgery done to take the baby out. I don't know I should of waiting long because I think everything happen to fast. I should of gone with other doctors just to make sure they were right because for some reason I kept thinking that my baby was still alive but I took the word of the doctor and did the procedure. Now I have heard stories that are similar of what happen to me and they don't have the d&c done right away they go and check with the doctor and have exams done and make sure that it's 100 percent sure or confirm that they had a m/c. I wish I should of known that before it happen to me. But o well god knows how much I wanted that baby. I hope that he bless me soon with another one.

Thanks,

Lili

Hey All,

I was told you could breastfeed while on Lovenox.... On another note thanks to all for the advice about getting off of Lovenox before labor..

The reason for the dr stating I could not have an epideral is because if I go into labor with in 6 hours of having a Lovenox shot, the shot it self can pose risks mixed with the epideral, it can cause paralysis. So its not that I can not have one, it just can not be within 6 hrs of going into labor. We are currently relocating so I am definately going to get a second opinion, because everything I have read has said to get off of Lovenox and onto heparin.

On another note: I haven't actually given myself a shot in the underarm, its just something I was told I could do. I did try my upperleg and that sucked! Its wierd though because of my stomach sometimes it hurts and sometimes it doesn't. While on Lovenox does everyone inject themselves 2x a day??? This week has been bad for sickness, I haven't actually vomitted but I can't seem to do anything without feeling like I am going to...huhuh

I have had some spotting off and on for about 1 1/2 week now, but its just that, spotting. Its very different than when I was having the other miscarriages...so maybe its normal??? Well will see.
Hopefully it will pass. I have my first dr appt on the 27th I hope everythings ok.

mrspfunk - December 17th, 2006 10:46 PM

Lili,

I soo understand what you are going through. Miscarriage seems to be one of those things you never hear about until you actually go through it. It wasn't until I had one that I began to do all sorts of research. In which I to found lots of stories as the ones you are describing. My first miscarriage ended very similar to yours, I also had a D&C in both...The first thing I did was question everything, did I eat something, drink something I shouldn't have..etc....Right now you are feeling some anxiety wondering if you did the right thing. I still have yet to hold a baby in my arms, but I truly know that God will bless me one day with the best baby in the world, lol. As he will with you! It is amazing to see how many people have experienced what you are going through. Hang in there! You did the right thing.

lili246 - December 18th, 2006 3:31 PM

mrspfunk,
Thanks for writting back. I don' t belong here becuase I don't use any of those medications but I like being here and sharing some of my info.
So you are currently pregnant? And you are spotting? Is that normal? I hope so because on my first m/c I was having some brown discharge and ended up in a m/c. I hope that everything goes well with your pregnacy. Take good care of yourself and thanks for your support you know how bad it feels having a m/c especially if it's the first one.

Love, Lili

Hi.
Thanks for the advice on breastfeeding. I am really encouraged because I have read good things about enoxaprin and successful pregnancy after recurrant miscarriages. I can't wait until I am pregnant again! I know I will have to have a scheduled Csection so I wonder how that will work with the epidural thing?! Does anyone know? I have been diagnosed the A1298C MTHFR. Does anyone else have that?
Thanks,
Ashley

lili246 - December 19th, 2006 11:22 AM

Ashley,
Have you had any kids before that you are having a c-section next time to give birth? What diagnose is that?

Thanks
Lili

julia c - December 19th, 2006 11:48 AM

Hi,
I have mthfr along with factor 5 liden. I was told that the mthfr wasn’t the reason they put me on the lovenox and if I hade that without the factor 5 I wouldn’t be on the blood thinners. I am just so happy that I am still pg. I am about 7w now and can’t wait to pass the 10w mark.
Julia

ashleys7786 - December 19th, 2006 1:02 PM

Hi. I have a leiden mutation also but I'm not sure if its the factor 5. Maybe it is the same thing since he said he will put me on lovenox.
Lily-I had a 9lb 5ounce son 10/26/04 with NO problems during my pregnancy. Then I had a baby boy die at 14 weeks in april of 06, and another baby die at 13 weeks in december. I dont know if that baby was a boy or girl yet. The first time there was no indication anything was wrong. I went in at 17 weeks to find out if I was having a boy or girl and found out that my baby had died at 14 weeks. No bleeding or cramping or anything. Then, the second time I spotted the tiniest little bit of blood I almost didn't even call my doctor. But I went in thinking everything would be fine and my baby had died at 13 weeks. I had to have a D&E both times. :( The diagnosis are genetic mutations that have to do with blood clotting and folic acid conversion. I am still learning about it!

Jolene - December 19th, 2006 1:26 PM

Hello everyone, I am new to this site and I am unsure how this works. I will start by telling a little of my story. In February of 2004 I found out I was pregnant I was 25 and healthy, things where going good. The first week in July I was having some bleeding, and the ultra sound showed that the baby was very small and having what they called D-cells. The blood was not flowing in the cord the way that it should. I was put on bed rest and protein shakes. I delivered a 1lb 9oz baby boy by emer.c-section on July 31 2004. He was in the hospital for 101 days and had 2 major surgerys. He is now 2 and doing well. I was told in Oct. 2004 that I had Factor V, MTHFR, and Factor II. I found out on Sat that I am now pregnant again. The OB wants me on Lovenox and even with my insurance it will cost 1500.00 per month. I was wondering if cost has been an issue for anyone else out there? I also wanted to know what the odds are of carrying a full term baby on lovenox? Has any one delivered a premature baby while on Lovenox? Any opinons or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

Jolene

lili246 - December 19th, 2006 1:59 PM
