Hello ladies...So I am new to this site, been part of a few others in the mean time, I also am on Lovenox 40mg once a day and 81mg asprin...this is my fourth pregnancy and will be my fourht baby!! I delivered my last son at 33weeks and my stupid ob couldnt figure out why i kept going into preterm labor form 19 weeks on...Needless to say I switch my ob this time around and they found that I have a protien S deficiency and MTHFR...at my first appt with a perinatologist they found that I had several blood clots in my uterus, one being pretty large. That was around 7 weeks, I am now currently 15 weeks, due in april and the clots seem to be stable and the baby seems to be doing very well!!!! YAY!!! I do have a question though, my dr says that women on Lovenox tend to have slightly larger babies and noone else has heard that??? Im concerned becasue I also have a uterine window, a weak uterus, which they think is from 3 prior sections...My fear is that this baby will get big to fast and my uterus wont be able to hold. Right now the plan is to do an amnio at 36weeks and if HE is ready to schedule a section for the next day or so to avoid risk of uterine rupture! So end of my long story (sorry) for all you ladies on lovenox, how big were your babies at birth and when did you deliver!!! Thanks for all your help, in advance!!!

hope that helps.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Hi everyone....I am 19weeks pregnant for the first time after 5 miscarriages at 5/6 weeks. My doc put me on Lovenox, Prenatals, and a Baby Aspirin a day and so far I have been successful. Every day is a new prayer and a new hope. My doctor told me that he would take me off Lovenox at 21/22 weeks and I am so scared to get off of it in fear of loosing my little one. Has anyone ever heard of cases where Lovenox has been stopped in the fifth month of pregnancy? He said they used to stop it at 27 weeks and went to 21 weeks in the last couple of years and shown great success.

Hi-
I am 13 wks pregnant and just started Lovenox -20mg 1X day for Factor V. My concern is when I woke up this morning I experienced some spotting. I am waiting for a call back from the doctor, but was wondering if anyone else experienced this as well and if all was normal? If so, did this happen frequently? I have had no m/c and a healthy soon to be 4 year old (who I did not take Lovenox with until after her delivery). Any comments on an experience like this would be wonderfully appreciated!

Hi ReneeW,

I am on lovenox 40mg per day and a baby aspirin and I experienced some spotting at around 8 weeks. I am now 15 1/2 weeks and as of today things are still going well. I think as long as the spotting is brownish in color and light than it may be something normal. I think the concern comes when the spotting is bright red. Just what I've heard. Good luck to you!

Sara

Figs337- I had never heard that either. I had Carly at 37 weeks and she only weighed 5lbs 1 oz. She is 5 months old now

lili246 - October 28th, 2008 3:10 PM

Renee,
Call your doctor and have them check you or do an u/s of the baby. 2 years ago I was 3 months pregnant and experienced spotting very light pink which I told the doctor and she said it was all normal which I trusted her and when I had an u/s it should that the baby wasn't alive. Sorry don't want to scary you but make sure just in case. Sometimes they say everything is ok when it is not so make sure and get an u/s done just to make sure.
After all that the doctor said maybe your spotting was a wanring that something wasn't good...ugh

Hi
I'm new to this board, and stumbled across this thread on a Lovenox search. I already have a 19 month old daughter, and we've been trying to have another one since December.

I don't have any clotting issues, but due to a bad vericose vein surgery- that ended with a staph infection, and hematoma inmy left leg, I developed a DVT in my right leg due to being practically immobile for 3 weeks. I was put in hospital with a heparin drip and put on 90 of Lovenox twice a day (I wish I was a thin girl!) for 7 days..

I was due to have my period on Wednesday, and just had some slight spotting, that I still have right now. I'm now freaked that if I am pregnant, something will happen due to the amount I am on.

I don't know if I'm pregnant yet- I think I'm too scared to even test, with everything that has happened in the past month. But on the slight chance I am, I am hoping that they will decrease the amount (1 shot per day) for awhile.

This site helped my wife and I to get through the pregnancy and we are very thankful to everybody who shared their stories to make others feel better. And now it's our turn.

Last Thursday we had a beautiful baby girl! My wife has anticardiolipin disorder and had 5 previous miscarriages. She was on 30mg/2xday lovenox plus baby aspirin starting at 7 weeks. Everything worked out great and finally we are home with our daughter. We'd like to encourage all the women with antiimmuine disorders not to give up. And all these shots were well worth it.

Good luck to you all!

congratulations on your baby girl! Glad to hear that all went well.

karrot305 - November 3rd, 2008 11:11 AM

BSSR- congrats on the new baby- makes everything seem worthwhile doesnt it!

back to your thing Figs- ive never heard about big lovenox babies- i think that would be kinda rare given the fact that the blood clotting disorders themselves can stunt some size just b/c of blood flow, and most people are induced early to prevent late term still birth. my baby was 5 lbs 13 oz. but i dont know if youd be on it long term for something else and go full term what that would do to a baby...

nahpe- have you been diagnosed with any clotting disorders? most all of us that have stay on lovenox the entire pregnancy since theres a lot of risk of still birth at the end. however, i have heard of people who just have a lot of mcs and never find the cause where lovenox helps with good implantation and early growth. if you do have a clotting disorder, Id get a second opinion.

renee- my first pg on lovenox i had A LOT of spotting, from about 8 to 12 weeks. mix of dark brown and bright red, and went in for my dating ultrasound around 12 weeks for sure thinking they were gonna tell me I had another mc. but things turned out fine! and then the bleeding just stopped. this pg i havent had any spotting at all, so hard to tell what happened last time.

so I went to the OB for my regular appt last week, Im 11w 1d now. things looked good, they said the heart rate was really good for how early i am, but this is about where I lost the first one, and where I had the bleeding last time. so really hoping to make it through the next few weeks and be in the clear (somewhat) by the holidays. still havent told the people at work yet...

my OB was saying there are a lot of docs out there going from 40 mg once a day to 30 twice a day now... but Im really hesitant to switch after not having a clot ever and with things working out fine last pg... and I know it will be more expensive. she said definitely to be taking the 81mg aspirin daily as well if i stayed on the 40. ugh, I know research changes recommendations, but so hard to know what to do...

keep us all posted on your stories,
kara

Hi Kara- I am currently in my 5th week of pregnacy and on 40mg of lovenox for antiphospholipid syndrome and MTHFR. After my last m/c I have not been able to get pg so, I had to do IVF. I have been on the lovenox since before my embryo transfer. I have been spotting since week 3 (2 weeks now) and I am terrified I will go for my first u/s and find out I had yet another m/c. For now I have had 2 blood tests and my numbers are going up as they should, so I hold on to hope that I will not lose this pregnancy. I see you also had spotting with your first pg on lovenox. Did they every find a reason? My doc said it is too early to even look but reasurred me that my hormone levels were fine and everything looks good for now.

lori5 - November 3rd, 2008 5:43 PM

lyly14 - good luck with your u/s!

So glad to have found this group! Question... I am 6w1d and I have been spotting off and on since before my BFP. My doc has told me to stop baby aspirin and lovenox b/c of my spotting. I have stopped lovenox but occasionally take BA. When I do, I seem to spot again. I have Factor V Leiden, so I am VERY scared to be off of both. My RE does not seem concerned. I have had some early m/c before, so I am worried. Has anyone else with Fac V Leiden stopped taking Lovenox due to spotting? Maybe I should stop the BA and just use the Lovenox?

I go in tomorrow for next u/s and I am very nervous hoping for h/b!

lyly14 - November 3rd, 2008 9:33 PM

Lori- Looks like we are very close. I am less than a week behind you. My RE didn't seem the least bit concerned about the spotting and told me to stay on all my meds including the lovenox and baby asprin. I have been spotting for 2 weeks straight today. Are you going for a 2nd u/s tomorrow? When did you have your first? My last pg I had my fist u/s at 5 weeks but the RE is making me wait until 6 wks for my first one this time. Let me know how the u/s goes.

Coco1604 - November 6th, 2008 1:48 PM

I have a question I'm 29 weeks pregnant, 30 on saturday. I have antiphlosopid syndrome, never had a blood clot but to previous 1st trimester miscarriages. I'm now on Lovenox 40mg/baby aspirin. About two months ago I had a issue with contractions and was put on Nifedipine, I have still been having contractions so my doctor has decided she wants to switch me from Lovenox to Heparin, is there a risk for the baby? Switching me so early, since normally you switch at 36 weeks. I'm just nervous about switching, but in anyone opinoin or experience is it safe?
