wow watergazer! its sounds like it wasnt that bad! im glad the baby is ok and that you avoided a c-section! youve really made me feel better about the whole birthing process and i hope mine goes as smoothly as yours did. my doc just scheduled my induction for 7/7 but they will start to ripen my cervix the night before as well. so how long from start to finsh was it? 24 hours? howd your husband handle the whole labor and delivery? is your house full of the pushy relatives? keep us updated!

bdantonio - June 26th, 2008 8:19 AM

congratulations watergazer!!!!

So veroki you have a little over a week left... Its funny how on the websites everyone is afraid of a c-section but i had 2 of them and i thought they were a breeze

veroki - June 26th, 2008 8:25 AM

i see bdantonio posted but i dont see the post.....

veroki - June 26th, 2008 8:26 AM

this website stinks!

im not scared of a c-section pain wise, id just rather not be cut open if i can avoid it, my mom had 3 of them and she never got her muscle tone back in her stomach b/c of it and she has this permanent bulge that would need a tummy tuck if she wanted to get rid of it. i already have enough body image problems! ;)

kjb~frank breech is the most common breech presentation, also its the safest for a baby to be born in, but a baby can turn around as late as 36 weeks.(there are plenty of stretches and techniques you can try now to coax the baby to turn around ie. putting your head near your wife bikini line area and talking to the baby, since it can hear now it will try to go toward the sound) im sorry but i dont see how a c-section is safer than natural birth, especially while on blood thinners. i think alot of doctors now days are so quick to offer up c-sections because its easier and quicker for them. im not against c-sections but if you can give it a try naturally first than why not, ya know? if you havent watch the business of being born, its really intresting, and although since were all high risk here we could never have home births and such its still a must see eye opening movie.

bdantonio - June 26th, 2008 12:11 PM

veroki i guess i got lucky i got my muscle tone back with no bulge but your arent the first to say that to me.

CLADesigns - June 26th, 2008 2:53 PM

I had a c-section with Shawn and I had no problem getting my flat stomach back. And I wanted to do a vbac (vaginal birth after c-sec) with my 2nd pg but was told that the risk was too high and that I would not be aloud to do that. But I did end up giving birth naturally without any drugs, because it wasn't something they could stop/control. I am hoping that next time (if there is one) that I can do a vbac again. But only time will tell.

CONGRATS WATERGAZER.....so glad everything went well. Keep us posted.

veroki - June 26th, 2008 4:44 PM

well i imagine they gotton better a doing c-sections since my moms day 24 years ago, maybe thats why she had the bulge! lol! watch i end up having to have one, i dont wanna but i wonder since my mom had issues if i will too....... i delivered my first naturally but @ only 15 weeks i dont think i had to dialate very much. who knows, i guess we will in 10 days!!!

CLADesigns - June 27th, 2008 10:40 AM

veroki---Everyone is different. My mom didn't have any problems delivering any of us, 6 kids, without drugs and did not require a c-section. And when they induced me with Shawn, he went into distress after 24 hours of labor and I had only dialated 1 1/2 cm. So there isn't a way to tell. I don't think anyway.

and if you remember.....watergazer said that her family always had problems delivering and hers went just fine. So only time will tell.

Just remember that no matter which way you deliver.....the end result will be your precious baby girl in your arms. And that is what is important.

Keep us posted. And good luck.

Hi,
I just found this forum and I am extremely grateful. I had a stage 3 placenta abrubtion in February, I was 8 month pregant, my beautiful daughter was still born. After many test, I found out I have 5 of "clotting diseases", of course factor v is on of them, and the rest I just cant remember. I have beautiful son who is 5 yrs old (i had absolutly no problems with). I just found out that I am pregant. I am told I am now the highest of the highrisk (a little disconcerning to hear). I have been put on 40mg of lovenox, i been on that for about 3 weeks, a foltrex tab, and baby aspring. I here alot of storys about m/c has anyone had a successful pregancy after a full term stillbirth? Some encouraging stories would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for sharing all of your experiences.

Abi

Well we had our first u/s on Tuesday and finally good news!!! we have a heartbeat!!! 137bpm!!!! I am offically 6 weeks 6 days today...so that was the best news we could get!! I am still not overly excited as we lost our first at 7 weeks or so...we go back on July 8 for another u/s...I did have blood work done on Tuesday but have yet to hear from the docs...figure I will call monday just to make sure all is good.

Watergazer - June 29th, 2008 8:10 PM

Just an update: I've finally been removed from Lovenox and switched over to Coumadin...but have to go get a blood test every day to monitor the levels because they are not yet stable.

As for the entire process of having the baby...I went into the hospital at 6 pm where they said I was only about 1 cm dialted or nothing...and at about 9-ish pm they inserted the ripening agent. It was like a long string with medication at the end, tampon-like. That night I started having more contractions (had been having Braxton Hicks a-plenty before that day anyway but they were not patterned). Around 3 am I started feeling a little uncomfortable based on the position I was lying in...some contractions hurt more than others but no real biggie. What I hated most was having to pee since I was hooked up to so many things it was hard to do...lifting a gown and dealing with wires and just a general mess.

At about 6 am they checked the cervix again and said it was around 1.5-2 cm and that was enough progress to warrent moving me to the birthing room and begin pitocin, which they started at about 10 am. They gradually increased the dose as my contractions got stronger and closer together and then felt like pushing at about 5 pm. I actualy started pushing at about 5:30-5:45 pm since they made we wait due to another woman in delivery, and Nicholas was born at 6:05.

After that they had to stich me up which took at least 30 minutes and I felt some of that so they had to numb me. I was shaking real hard like I was in a blizzard but that went away in about 45 minutes. since the birth.

All in all it was only like more intense menestral pain...and I'm used to a lot of pain every month anyway, so for me the labor was a piece of cake. I can't say I would have felt the same without the epidual but eh, I went to 3cm before getting one. I suggest if given the opportunity when the anastesiologist is on the floor (and you aren't averse to an epidural), get it when you can and don't wait because it takes about a half hour to get that done and in the meantime you're having contractions every few minutes and you have to sit very still throughout the procedure. But the needle used to numb you before the epidrual goes in feels better than a Lovenox shot...just pressure really, not pain. 'Course that's MY experience. I thought it was easy.

My husband was there the whole time and helping me push. No worries there though...I found that easy enough too. Felt kind like a bowling ball moving down through me. I felt it enough I knew the progress and pushed in spurts of 4 10-second intervals about 20 pushes and he was out.

Now our main issue is with casting his legs every week due to clubfoot...it is painful for him and he's pretty miserable about it but at least he won't remember any of it, but it's still very depressing to watch and hold him down while he's getting casted.

jovani - June 30th, 2008 4:54 PM

i just got back from my 23 week u/s. everything looked good. he weighs 1lb 6oz. i have another u/s july 29th.

veroki - July 1st, 2008 9:05 AM

watergazer~ awww poor baby im sure thats got to be awful for him, is it both his legs or just one? do they have an idea how long its going to take to correct?

as for you do you feel like a "mom" yet? or is it still surreal?

as for me i was having alot of crampy contractions yesterday so i called the doc and she told me to come in, she checked me and i was 1cm dialated and 50% effaced, which we all know could mean nothing at all, but considering i was completely closed less than a week ago ill take it as progress. i really hope she decides to make an early appearence this week but if not i know for sure she'll be here by 7/7. im going stir crazy at home, i sorta wish i wouldve stayed working even though i was miserable at my job.

my husbands parents kinda annoy me, theyve had all this time to plan and buy tickets to come out here, they knew id be induced by 39 weeks but its like they were waiting to be sure??? well anyways his dad called him yesterday and said that he wanted to surprise his mom and come out here the last week of july or the 1st week of august. well my grandparents are coming from puerto rico in august so i said tell them july. why am i annoyed? well my husband only has 2 weeks vacation from his day job which he was going to take right when the baby is born, not to mention he still has his 2nd job which he was only going to take 1 week off. so since i dont think hes going to want to be working 2 jobs while his parents are in town, that means he'll probably only take 1 week when the baby is born and then he'll take the 2nd week when they get here. how does that help me? i liked the idea of having him around to help the first 2 weeks as we get used to the baby. my own mother isnt going to take time off to help me either so im going to have the baby and 1 week later be on my own, i wouldve preferred his parents to come that same week, then they could be around to help , idk i guess im just going to feel alone.

MommyKitty81 - July 1st, 2008 9:20 PM

wow your so close. Im making mine last so much longer but counting down the days on a calendar haha

jovani - July 2nd, 2008 4:02 PM

is it normal for your baby to be in the head down position at 23 weeks?

veroki - July 2nd, 2008 6:15 PM

melissa~ yeah its normal, it still has tons of room to do somersaults and today it could be head down and tomorrow it could be feet down, at this point it doesnt matter.
