My fertility doc made me and my husband aware that we could have twins when I was on Chlomid. Then when I started going to my RE he said that he didnt like to up the chances of mulitiple births because of the risks to the child/mother. So im curious as to why a doctor would prescribe chlomid to women who dont have any problems just because they want twins. He basically flat out told me that he didnt want multiple births but that twins were possible and I am being steered towards IVF where that raises the chances higher. Though if that happens I would feel doubley blessed...

I know for me that when I was on chlomid I had to follow up with an hcg shot that you must get by prescription only. and it was timed at a precise time to be given after ovulation.

Ya'll are so funny! I have a couple of friends on a different site who are doing the unprescribed thing.

A while back I did a whole lot of research on it also because I was thinking of doing it to get pregnant AND in hopes of twins!.. Anyway I ended up seeing a fertility specialist anyway that decided to start me on meds so I didn't have to do it un monitored.

But.. I will tell you this. Its very easy (and cheap) to buy Clomid online, as well as every other med out there. To save money I bought all of my Clomid, Gonal-f, Repronex, Ganirilex, HCG triggers, Progesterone and EVERYTHING online. There are mulitple offshore pharmacys that people can buy from and there is even a classifieds website in the U.S. that is pretty much specifically for people selling or buying fertility meds!!! As a matter of fact I had about 1/2 of my meds given to me for FREE.

Also about the HCG trigger. When on Clomid you still ovulate on your own so you don't HAVE to have it, but it helps. With ferning microscopes and many OPKs you can detect Estrogen rises and LH surges before Ovulation actually occurs and that is when these women who choose to use the HCG do their triggers.

I actually have a friend who did most of the meds I've listed unprescribed and she is 15 wks pregnant with triplets! So it is very possible to do everything on your own.... Just not nearly as safe.

As for the risk of OHSS only 3-5% of fertility med users have problems with that and out of those who do only 1% have problems severe enough that any medical treatment is needed. I actually researched all of it and drinking electrolites like GatorAid and Pedialight while taking those meds helps prevent OHSS!

Like I said I really did my research. Thankfully though I never had to take the chance.

Can you tell which offshore pharmacys? I need follistim and progesterone. My insurance does not cover any of the fertility meds that I need. If you could tell me or post here that would be great.
